1. Of all of Miamis qb's where would you put pennington as far as best to last.

My opinion right now is he is the 4th best qb we have ever had so far.

Disagree with that, Fiedler at least led us to the playoffs, Pennington had led us to 4-4, even David Woodley led us to the Super Bowl, Don Strock as well.

Chad Pennington is hands down the best Qb we have had since...Gus Ferrotte?!?

    Marino
    Griese
    Morell
    Strock
    Woodley
    Pennington

That would be my order right now. Pennington has room to move up though.

Dropping the Trent Dilfer bomb in reference to Woodley? For shame.

I still remember all the talk after that super bowl. For weeks people were saying that it's just not right that Dilfer has a ring and Marino doesn't:sad:

As far as how they've done in a Fin uni

    Marino
    Griese
    Morell
    Strock
    Woodley
    Fiedler
    Pennington

I think he could make #3 /4 in my list if he can give Miami a good season or two.

He's had 8 games not a large enough sample size.

  13. I guess that was that a little bit cruel and unfair. I still will argue that pennington is a better qb then woodley was though. Dont get me wrong i liked woodley and strock too but I put penny in front of at least woodley and probally strock too but thats a tough one there. He did so much for this team that I might push penny down one under strock

  14. ill concede your sample size argument but for the short time he has been here he has really changed our offense ans has had a huge impact.

Scot Mitchell won 4 games for us shula guy.

Now Penny is easily the most competent Qb we've had in over a decade, but that is not a large statement...look at who we have had playing Qb for us..

  16. damn i frogot about mitchel. He did so well at the lions too lol

We have had many qb's come through miami with very lil luck at finding true stars. I know we are only at game 8 with 4 wins but look at the way this offense has turned around. I personally credit a good deal of it too penningtons leadership and skill

I think another reason he shows us so much is because he inherited the worst Dolphin team since the AFL merger so there really wan't anywhere to go but up.

I think honestly you could have put any Qb on that list in the same place with similar results. The first 8 games this season are great, but the next 8 against teams we should beat will show me the mark of what he can be for us.

I would want to give Fiedler some credit that guy was a real gutsy winner who never received the credit he should have with the seasons he gave Miami.

True Hero, Fiedler won games, we also had a much better team when he was winning, I meant "competent Qb" as in they can create offense on their own, they are good enough to lift a bad team to victory, Fiedler never really could.

  19. i liked fiedler and agree he was a guy who played with heart. I liked ferotte too i thought he played well for us, not as well fiedler but i though it was a mistake we chased him off the team.

i dont think you could put any qb in and say the same things think if he went with mcClown do you think we would be playing this well?

I'll give you that but I would also add that similar to Pennington he had to use his brain more than his arm. He was a tremendous athlete but not what I would consider a prototypical QB.

Anybody ever doubts Fiedler I just reference that game against Oakland - he was a gritty s.o.b.

no, not any qb just those other guys on the list - the other gaggle of morons that Miami had at QB would have us at 1-7 right now.

  22. hey look fair enough you would put fiedler ahead of pennington i put pennington ahead of fiedler we can agree to disagree

That works for me, I want Pennington to become the greatest thing since sliced bread - I just want to see it down the important stretch this season.

  24. very true

do you think if all things being equal a 32 yr old fiedler could of stepped into the situation miami was in and get us to where we are now?

For the most part I do. The other difference is the leadership from the sidelines and how it reflects on the QB. I think Fiedler felt the pressure to make plays too often and he tried to force the ball and like Chad doesn't have much of an arm.

If Fiedler was in with the current coaching staff and the overall philosophy I'm comfortable saying that he would perform in a similar fashion.

  26. your opinion is intresting I wont bash fiedler because he was a great team player for us. i think its intresting that you blame his coaching staff for his interceptions. i dont agree i think its a skill he repeatedly tried to hone but did not have sucess at doing. the only thing i can really say is if i had my choice between pennington or fiedler as my starter qb i would not hesitate to choose pennington

No, I don't think that the coaches are to blame for the INT's - what I mean is he was under a different pressure to perform so he was forcing things at times. He threw the picks.

I would choose Pennington as well for today's team but Fiedler has his proper place in Miami QB ranking and overall I still think he contributed more to Miami than Pennington has to this point in his career.

  28. I think that is a fair enough statement only because you are basing it on longevity, which is also a fair element to bring to the descussion. I still say Pennington has done more for the Dolphins in half a season then fiedler did in his entire careeer but that is just my opinion.

No thanks...Fiedler did some nice things for us but he was limited in an area that those other QBs mentioned were not...I don't know whether it was a physical or mental or heart limitation, but he just didn't have it and that's what seperates him from those others mentioned...Fiedler always had to push to reach that level and just never got there...
