Well, the Henne era begins, White is the backup Qb, if Penny's injury is not serious he still can comeback in time to make a difference this season, if not we will be picking top 10.

Well unfortunately, with a poorly as the Oline has been playing and Penny's track record, we all knew this was coming. Still doesn't make it any easier.

Penny going down and maybe Carpenter popping a hammy during a game could be the two best or worst things that could happen to the dolphins. -

Sucks for chad, i really wanted him to prove his critics wrong and have the same season as last year, sadly that will not happen, regardless of what happens with him and the dolphins in the future, i would like to thank him for giving me a season i will never forget! One QB who i once hated, is one now one of my favorite! Great player, always played the game the way it was meant to be played, sad to see it end this way.

I wonder if anyone has told Henning and Sparano that on a FG attempt the snap can get botched, they might start attempting FG's on 3rd down just incase then.adamprez2003, Firesole and dirtywhiteboy like this. -
That really sucks for Pennington, all during the offseason you heard how much he was busting his butt to get in gear for this year. That guy is a trooper, and that was evident on that drive where he got his nose all busted up.
If it is more than just a couple weeks I'm sure he can expect more than a few thank you/get well soon cards. He's been nothing but class at the position and honestly it's just really sad to see this.dirtywhiteboy, dolphindebby and opfinistic like this. -
Well it looks like we have to give Ronnie the ball now dont we?
Lets hope Henne can bounce back. -

If this is what happens, it is what it is. I am a Henne supporter, but I didnt wish for Pennington to get hurt. He gave me a season last year that I will remember forever. He was the one that could have put our franchise back in the right direction. Now as for Henne, I just hope we are patient with him. I know alot of the people are going to say he sucks right away and such, but be patient he is basically a rookie. Manning in his rookie year went 24 TD and 28 INT. Look at him now.

Now we're going to find out if this bargain shopping for QBs in the 2nd round thing they've been doing the past three years can actually work.

Honestly, as much as I am sad that this happened to Pennington, and wish it didn't, this could be a good thing for our team.
We honestly weren't really expecting to make a superbowl run (not after our first two games at least). This will give us at LEAST 3 weeks of watching Henne perform in a real game situation, and see how he takes to it. If he shows some promise (a semi-consistent spark is all I'd really be looking for), then we might have someone long term. If he doesn't play well, then we draft early and try to get ourselves a franchise QB.
I think we're being cursed personally for having all that good luck while Marino was at QB. I mean good lord, I think Karma has paid us back in 10 fold with what we've had to deal with (prior to CP).
Anyways, fingers crossed, hoping for the best. It would be great to come out of this situation with a solid franchise QB getting a year of play in against some of the league's top teams/defenses. -

The big issue now is "Will Henning and Sparano let loose the reigns some and throw the ball downfield ??" Now, someone please email them and let them know that it's perfectly legal to do. The thing we lose with Henne is the game savvy that Penny has. That can't be replaced except with time and experience. Most folks on this board are not going to be patient enough with him, I suspect. There will be growing pains but getting the experience will help in his development, be it for 3 weeks or the rest of the season. Either way, we are now in a quandary at QB because we have no #3 and our #2 hasn't shown anything one way or the other (good or bad)...On the bright side, barring an unforeseen injury to Henne, there won't be any question about whether to activate Henne or White. One less decision for the staff to make each week...
Oh, and while I'm at it, please, no Garcia here....pleeeeaaaassseee ! -

In Tony's presser on aquavision he said their doing more tests before reporting anything.
Their checking JP too. Said he was sore today.like2god likes this. -
Well, this is why it's important to keep expectations in check, you never know what bump in the road is going to get your the way. I think it's important for our folks to give Henne a chance instead of taking their frustration out on him, it isn't his fault that Penny is as fragile as he is. It's time to let him develop and find the positives in his play, rather than have 20 threads bashing the kid because he wasn't able to save the world yesterday. -
-
Of course I really do hope he's the next coming star, I just get irritated with those that think he is indeed going to come in and have instant success.
I will yell encouragement from my couch each weekend just as I have for any other QB that has dressed in the Orange and Aqua, but for the record, I honestly don't see Henne being anything but anothwr Mediocre QB

Why does everyone continue to say the O-line is playing badly? Is there something that I just not seeing? Our quarterbacks were scrambling for their lives yesterday?

Here's to hoping that he's a productive Dolphin for the next 10 years :ffic: -
Since that game they've been pretty solid. I did hold my breath when I saw Carey go down yesterday though.
The O-Line isn't the issue. It' the passing game, both offensively and defensively. -
The problem is people on this board are so unwilling to admit they might have been wrong about something that they will either -
1. Claim Henne sucks because they felt the team was better off with Pennington
or
2. Defend Henne to all ends because they disliked Pennington and have been waiting on edge for Henne to get his chance.
There will be no happy medium if Henne struggles. I really hope Henne can play well or we are in for John Beck part 2 and it will be unbearable.SeanP, steveincolorado and HardKoreXXX like this. -

I defended Penny, and will defend Henne. I wanted to see Henne get a shot as much as anyone, but was also content with him holding the clipboard this season until it was his time to start.
I really don't see this being a John Beck part 2. That 07 roster was completely talentless. After Ronnie went down, I honestly believe there were a few college teams that could've beaten us.like2god, adamprez2003 and MonstBlitz like this. -

Worse case scenario is Henne plays poor - mediocre for the rest of the season and we're left scratching our heads at the end of the season wondering if he has what it takes to be our QB of the future.
I'm ready for Henne to have growing pains, but I hope to see flashes of potential. He can throw 15 interceptions, but I want to see 15 TDs too. I want to see some deep bombs for TDs down the sidelines. If he can do that, we can forgive some of the rookie mistakes.
I think Peyton Manning's rookie season is a perfect example. Lots of picks, lots of problems, but he also flashed buttloads of potentional and nobody who watched Peyton play that year had any doubts about his talent.adamprez2003 likes this. -
