Among possible cap casualties : Fields has been among the only stalwarts on this team for many years .His punts inside redzone have been uncanny at times.I hope we find a way to hang on to him. Regarding the OT position they have this to say. There is more about our DT and OG positions where we will possibly need new players if Solai and Starks are not signed. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/03/05/2014-team-needs-miami-dolphins/
Just restructure Patterson and were good to go..he has no real leverage, unless he gets another offer, if he doesn't wanna restructure then cut his ***.
The Dolphins have more than enough cap room. I really hope they don't (and seriously doubt they will) cut one of the best players at his position in the NFL. The guy is a weapon.
Why didn't the light come on sooner? "Clabo performed significantly better in the second half of the season, -12.4 in the first half, +11.6 in the second half, looking more like the player he was in Atlanta." If he plays like the 2nd half of the season we are golden at RT.
I'd absolutely keep Fields, think losing Starks and Soliai would compound our Ginger Offseason problems. That would be 6 of 10 line starters at least who would or should be gone. Unless we can manage to hit the draft/UDFA/middle class FA trifecta that is just to many holes to fill.
