They weren't because they weren't in the game all-day long. I've never seen a defense cramp at night the way Miami did. Had that game been in the day the defense would have given up perhaps 600.
http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2011/09/13/re-focused-patriots-dolphins-week-1/ He threw for 517, yet yards were still "incredibly" left on the field. We're lucky he didn't go for 600.
Hopefully someone locks the door to the checkdown building and posts pictures of Henne that read, "Do not let this man in the building".
Davis and Smith......... I'm 37 and can pound a six pack the night before running sprints in 105 temps. I don't cramp. Maybe they need some time of the month medicine and a hug. F#$%#% soft I say. Just plain weak.
To add to the not checking down thing, 28.6% of his pass attempts went beyond 15 yards. That was good for the 5th highest total in the league for week 1. Check here for some more stats. He did pretty well in most categories.
I don't necessarily disagree, except for comparing them to your six-pack and sprints... unless you are sprinting for three-plus hours, like they do.
