And says he came out of the meeting and isnt worried about his job status. Most likely wont be fired.
It is real. Philbin said so in the postgame conference. He says we shouldnt panic and that he is going to get ready for the Titans.
Dolphins coach Joe Philbin isn't worried about his job security after meeting with owner Stephen Ross following the team's third straight loss on Sunday. "No, not at all," Philbin told reporters in London after a 24-14 loss to the New York Jets at Wembley Stadium. "I'm worried about getting this team straightened out and fixed and getting our team ready to play the Tennessee Titans." http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...ilbin-meets-owner-stephen-ross-team-falls-1-3
Shut up. Ross is so much dumber than I could have imagined if Philbin isn't afraid for his job after starting 1-3 in his fourth season. Really, one could argue successfully that we are lucky to not be 0-4. This team looks like garbage.
Firing Philbin at this point does nothing other than make a few fans happy. Till the next game. Then they'll want the interim coach fired. Hard to imagine anyone wants to coach this team right now anyway.
If we are going to do something, have to do it tomorrow. Problem for Ross is, if he isn't ready to fire philbin, and philbin won't fire coyle, not sure how ross would deal with philbin forcing him to make a decision. Whole thing is absurd, should have all been fired after last season, now ross is going to lose a lot of the support and "glow" miami gained this past summer.
That's ridiculous. It's obvious to almost everyone that the team has to a certain extent given up on Philbin and his coaching staff. If the players can have even a glimmer of hope that a new head coach will turn it around and lead them down a better path, then it's worth it. Not to mention that Philbin is not a good coach or leader of men and should have been fired a long time ago anyway.
Philbin mentioned Coyle in the postgame conference. You can read it on jim1's link on this thread. He doesnt plan on firing coyle
I wonder at what point the player's frustrations are going to explode. I really get the sense that this is going to piss off a lot of players and that we might start seeing some of those Wallace-esque sideline disputes. The good thing is that the majority of the good players are Landry, Tannehill, Pouncey, and Suh. Those 4 aren't leaving Miami. Basically everyone else is replaceable if they attempt to murder Philbin and by consequence get released.
F these guys. If this is all true it's obvious they don't care about winning. If they don't care why should we?
That's reality. Sorry if you don't like it. Rag on Philbin all you want, he deserves it. But the players suck too and that is also "obvious to everyone". Your idea that they'd suddenly start playing better if Coyle, Lazor, Rizzi, some other guy was the HC is what's ridiculous.
I'm not saying anything one way or another about whether Ross will fire Philbin soon or not. However, I don't think we should take Philbin's answer as anything. I doubt he's going to come out and say "Yeah, I'm screwed".
If at the very least Coyle isn't fired I am done with team. We all should stop going to the games, watching them and buying their apparel. I can no longer support this joke of a franchise if delusional Ross can't see that this coaching staff couldn't lead Ohio State to the college football playoffs. The play calling and schemes have been completely idiotic and predictable. During the 1-15 season we probably has some of the worst talent in the NFL. But we were still competitive in some games and especially in the divisional games. This year we have the most talent I can remember as a Dolphin fan. Philbin and his goon squad are ruining players careers and halting the growth of our young players. Every day a move is not made we are risking the future of our talented players. Tanny has had some rough days in this league but I have never seen him as dejected as he was in the 4th quarter today. Right now his career could go towards the path of Drew Brees or Chad Henne. If a change is not made soon it will set the team back 10 years and destroy the career of our franchise quarterback.
Can't put it all on Coyle. Not when he has 2 LBs and 3 out of 5 DBs that shouldn't be on the field. Plus, the supposed strength of his D has yet to show up. Wake and Vernon specifically. Scapegoating the staff is IMO the easy way out. What should he be doing differently that would achieve better results?
After Wanny was fired in 04 the team finished 3-4, a much better winning percentage than the 1-8 they were sitting at when he left. After Sparano was fired in 11 the team posted a winning record. I don't know how you're going to deny the effect getting rid of a loser HC can have on a team.
Well, then a big thank you to whoever in the world paid me $220 for my Tenn/Mia tickets that I paid $125 for Bull****. A god damn circus monkey could have this team more prepared to play than this jackass we call a headcoach.
Good point. Does it apply to the current team tho? The 04 and 11 teams had good defenses and defensive staffs. For a decade the or more the Dolphins had good defenses and offenses that could hardly gt ou of their own way. 2015 is different. The D is as bad a the O. Turning the team over to Coyle or one of his assistants, with the way they are performing, isn't gonna do squat imo. Might as well let Philbin wallow in the mess he's made and start fresh next season.
I'm all for hiring a circus monkey. But would he go in at half time to make adjustments or stay out and perform a half time show?
I'm trying to look at the whole picture. Suh is taking double teams. Wake and Vernon were supposed to eat. Problem is, they are not winning the 1 on 1s any more. Philbin told Coyle to dumb down the D. Problem generated by Philbin 1st and then Coyle who decided to throw some of the old stuff in today with limited sucess. Wake is injured and or old. Aikens sucks and continues to play. That is not a Coyle deal. He hates playing rookies. The O line sucks *** at everything. Philbin is an O line coach and has had 4 years. He refuses to employ a FB. We do not have a power game because of Philbin. I'm willing to bet the fact that we just traded a CB for a ham on wheat has something to do with Philbin. The entire team besides #14 plays like a bunch of *******. Philbins fault. Rizzi needs to be the coach starting tomorrow. Philbin has to go. The rest of the staff will be gone at the end of the season.
When I found out last year that the pains were keeping philibum for another season, I told my cousin I would not watch them until they got a new coach. Of course, I fell into the hype of this team during the preseason and started watching them this season and of course I've been disappointed. If Ross doesn't fire someone during the break, I'm probably not gonna watch the rest of the season... It's a little too painful. But hey, they'll at least get a really good draft position.
I don't understand how any of you can think he would fire the coach this early. This owner wouldnt fire Ireland he offered him a different job LOL.
I dont know what you expected Philbin to say. I hope Ross will do something after he gets back to Davie. There is a bye week next, and a long time to dwell on the last 3 games.
