First thought, "Who in the hell is Kevin Cone?"
quick internet search did not help muchBlameItOnTheHenne, Unlucky 13, Vinny Fins and 1 other person like this. -
Training camp fodder

The Dolphins will be adding a lot of guys. They only list 58 players on the roster right now.
-
I like adding Fox to the mix. I don't expect the team to rely on him to start at RT, but we definately need depth. Bringing in a guy who's been in the league for four years and has started a few games gives us insurance.
-
Fox sounds like a good signing. Should be the starter and if so scratch another need off the list.
-
fox is definetly a depth signing. i just looked up some of his times...he is slow. we still need 2 starters on the offensive line. i still go zach martin in the 1st and another o-lineman in the 2nd or 3rd.
as for cone, i'm not even going to waste my time. -
Good signing but you definitely shouldn't pencil him in as a starter, there's a reason he's signing so late into free agency and for the minimum I might add, this shouldn't deter the team from taking the best OL available in the 1st IF that was the original plan.

Signing him begs this question:
What did the Fox say?BlameItOnTheHenne, Puka-head and Vinny Fins like this. -
He's had foot and knee injuries before but if the groin is good then he could be a quality starter for us and if nothing else a nice depth signing at a position where we def need it.unluckyluciano, Da 'Fins and bigbry like this. -

One year "prove it to me deal". Started 45 games at the U without an injury history. Has had injuries with the Lions but also started out behind Jeff Backus which would hold up a lot of Offensive linemen.

He did win the starting job last season before an injury derailment. He has the skills to be a starter. Its a question of staying healthy, hence the one year prove it deal.

I think it is an important signing. He can compete for the starting RT spot. And, gives Miami some freedom in the draft though they may still go OL in round 1. But, given that the draft is so unpredictable, this is a valuable pick up.
Not only the fact that he won the starting job last year but the fact that, in spite of several injuries that set him back, Detroit still hung onto him through 4 years, is a sign that they saw definite talent in the guy.
If he stays healthy - who knows what he could do as a starting RT? Not a panacea but a good move by Hickey as a backstop. -

Regardless, I give Hickey credit for creating some positional flexibility for the draft.Da 'Fins likes this. -

Fox, 25, is a 6'6" @ 314 lbs former Detroit Lions fourth-round draft pick from Miami. won the start last season. four years NFL experience. injury issues can be healed & prepped for before the regular season. I like it. now lets draft Martin & a Center/guard & we have the stuff to build with in 2014.

Anybody know if Fox can play guard if needed?

He won the job after Jeff Backus retired. He didn't go out and unseat a vet or anything. And to be fair, it was the Lions.

Martin is not a top 20 player.
