According to this, we nay have $20-$25M to spend due to credits and exemptions. I'm gonna wait until the deal is signed.

Heh, for 7 Million and 5 Million Carey and Crowder can definitely be restructured. Or depending on the cap hit, flat out cut. I like Carey and Id like to bring him back in the 4-4.5M range where his performance really says he belongs. Hes not as bad as people make him out to be but hes certainly not an elite RT either.
Crowder....cya. Never been a fan. Good run plugger but thats about it..couldnt force a turnover if his life depended on it. -
It's not really that different from what we expected. They just include the exemptions so the number seems bigger at first. We should end up somewhere between $10-$15 mill available. I still expect the following:
Pass rusher: Ray Edwards has been the name that we've been hearing.
RB: DWill or Bradshaw depending on cost or down one tier to Sproles or Bush.
QB: I expect one vet like Moore, Young or Jackson. Also either Froman or Camp.
G: I have no idea whom. -

Based on the cap being $120-$123M, which was reported by NFL and ESPN, and adding in Solia, I had $5-$8M available. Barry had $12M, and he has been overly reliable, and has much more access to info than I do.
Now, that number is doubled. I'm not aware of the credits and exemptions.
All I'm saying is that I'm gonna wait a couple of days, to get things exact, before posting any mis-information for hundreds of Phans to read, and speculate on. -
Well I have to sort of agree with raf here then because my impression was that once Soliai was accounted for the Dolphins would have about $12 million in cap space, and now Volin has broken it down in more detail and concluded the Dolphins will have about $10 to $15 million in cap space after signing rookies and EFAs/RFAs. That's actually a little bit more money than I thought they'd have but not much.
IF they give Soliai a long term deal, it seems like it might be enough to get what they want...an impact QB, an impact RB and an impact pass rusher. Giving Soliai a long term deal should make that $10-15 range shoot up to $16-24 depending on how they structure Soliai's deal. I think that would be enough to grab an Ahmad Bradshaw, Antwan Barnes and (insert QB here). -
I completely understand, and could not be happier that we have more to spend. All I'm saying is that I want to know the exact numbers before speculating any further.
-
Qb and Rb both will cost 9-12 million per yr for even decent quality, let alone a G like Colledge. -
Young want $8-10M a year on a long term contract. LOL, and Lot's Of Luck.
-
Are we going to be able to restructure Soliai's deal? I'd like something along the lines of 4yr/22 mil or so. If we can do that and restructure either Carey's or Crowder's deal, then I think we should spend our money on a RB (D-Will, Bradshaw, Sproles, or Bush), pass rusher (preferably Barnes or Lawson), and roster fillers. Then use the extra spare money for Wake/Langford and next free agency.
-
Rb's are not worth 12 million either...
BUT with a decent signing bonus they can work around the salaries. -
this latest ESPN article has us $13.6 M under the cap and thats without the tendered FA, pretty good article , so many teams have money to spend, this year will really show
how attractive miami the destination really is
