Winning only 7 games, being 1-7 at home, and 4 games out of the playoffs easily top the list. Why did that happen? Can we fix the problems in one short year? Here's my list of our biggest disappointments, after doing some research on ESPN, NFL, and PFF.
Henning's play calls- #1 on the forum hit list. No research can find good or bad, all subject to opinion. No matter, he's gone.
Henne- #2 on the forum hit list. This past season he was 301 for 490, 61.4%, 3301yards, 15 TD's, 19 Ints, 75.4. Last season- 274 for 451, 60.8%, 2878 yards, 12 TD's, 14 Ints, 75.2. Not much improvement. However, he threw 40 more passes for 400 more yards. That is a little something.
OL- #3 on the forum hit list. We were #22 this year, #23 was Baltimore, #25 was Pitt, # 29 was Philly, #32 was Da Bears. In 09, we were #18, #20 was Balt, #21 was Philly, #31 was Pitt, and #32 was GB.
R&R- This year the ran 359 times for 1407 yards, averaging 3.7 and 4.2. In 09 they ran 388 times for 1769, averaging 4.4 and 4.7. We lost 326 yards on 29 carries from the year before.
ST's- This past year we lost games on ST's. In 09 we won a couple.
Int's- We were #28, and left many on the field. #1 Pats, #2 Pack, #3 Philly, #4 Atl, #5 Bears, #6 Pitt. They had 20 or more, we had 11. This is a telling tale.
All things considered, which were your biggest disappointments, and can we correct them this year?

we need a running game this offseason. That loss in production on the ground is what ruined this team IMO. Im not sure what needs to be done. I know i want Mark Ingram in the draft, and obviously somethings gotta change with the interior of our oline, but IMO, fixing the running game will instantly fix a lot of the OC and QB problems. We don't really know what we're going to get out of Daboll. On paper he certainly doesn't seem like an upgrade at OC, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Any OC who can depend on their running game can usually provide a very serviceable gameplan.
I've been vocal about this before, i just don't think we're in position to upgrade QB. the best we can do is bring in a project QB whom Henne shouldn't have much of a problem beating out in TC. i'm not saying we shouldnt do that, but those hoping Henne isn't our guy next season have to hope for some pretty big changes to go our way.
oh and the D has to catch the damn ball. thats just ****ing ridiculous. You can't 'fix' that. The players want to catch the ball 10x more than we want to see them catch it, so it really is all mental. They just need to turn it around, no excuses.jetssuck, Shamboubou, GMJohnson and 2 others like this. -
Agreed completely. We need to bring in another QB but first and foremost we need to fix the running game. -
Our OL specialist/ HC fielding a very poor interior line.
Our QB became even more of a candy ***.
Kick coverages were atrocious. -

Biggest Phins disappointment of 2010 - The behavior of the members of this board with the sky is falling attitude, the inability to let a thread be about anything except how much Chad Henne/Dan Henning/Tony Sparano/Steven Ross/Jeff Ireland sucks, and the hostility that gets sent towards other members who aren't on board the negativity train. Did I sum it up well enough?

I absolutely dont mind when people vent frustration....they care, its your job as a good member to understand where they are coming from and make them feel that this is a place they can express themselves freely without judgement...If you show that kind of patience to members, it makes everything better, including the member that is venting..Southbeach, jetssuck, miamiron and 1 other person like this. -
Henning out...Daboll in...
Henne out...Penny in...
Crowder out....Chad Greenway in..
Ronnie ricky out...Mark Ingram in..
Thats a start with dealing with disappoinments..
Spend your 3rd or 4th round pick on the best position/returner player available in the draft. -

-1-7 at home
-1-4 to end the season
-Henne melting down
-Ronnie and Ricky collapsing
-No "boom" from Brandon Marshall, where was that "beast"?
-ST collapsing
-Ross's Big Adventure
-The Jilted Wife Make Up Presser
The 2010 season was very much like ordering from the expensive side of the menu only to wind up getting 3 carrots and a bowl of cream of wheat. -
His return will not prohibit me from finding my future, but he sure is comforting. -
Running game & ST. As bad of a year as we are considering it you are looking at 3-4 more wins this season if they hold up their end of play in certain games.

Marshall's 2.8 YAC average was a huge disappointment for me. You can count his TD production with three fingers.
How could you not up those numbers next season just saying.
Add to that Dan Henning abandoning the run in winnable games and putting added pressure onto the young QB's.
Get a speed WR, an electric RB, fix the OL there is no reason this offense won't be better than last season. Sounds like a tall order but not so much.
Yep as if you couldn't tell I was disappointed with the offense. :wink2:jetssuck likes this. -

I would agree with the offensive play calling. I am also disappointed with the development of Chad Henne as a QB. I am not going to take all the blame from Henne, but some of the best QB's in the league continue to develop. Most come into the league with various levels of ability, but few if any are totally NFL ready on day one. This coaching staff has to take the hit for either not properly developing him, or realizing that another QB was needed to develop. It is entirely possible that alot of the issues were caused by a trickle down effect. The offensive line not being able to run block hampered the running backs ability to have running room with caused the team to rely soley on the passing game that was not there............who really knows. I am glad that Henning is gone, because I was often scratching my head at some of his decisions.

To answer the OP, Tony Sparano being retained.

I hate "what ifs" but, still think about them.
