An outside linebacker for Iowa, Edds had five interceptions in 2009 and routinely covered tight ends and even slot receivers. While Edds will play inside linebacker in the NFL, Ireland said he has the tools to excel in the team's nickel-coverage packages this season.
"He's a very good cover linebacker," Ireland said. "He's big (6-3, 246) and he's very fast (4.6-range in the 40) for the position."
Edds also was a team captain and a three-time Academic All-Big Ten Conference selection that scored a 31 (out of 50) on his Wonderlic Test - highest among Dolphins rookies.

He could fill one of the biggest problems we had last year in covering Tight Ends. Solid pick.

This guy was a very nice pickup imo. Another versatile player, and he will really push Crowder to excel, or he may very well find himself on the pine.
