let them get it right before game one. most teams that make the play-offs win about 70% of their early games. we need to come out in September smoking, no time or place for the faint of heart. Sparano got this one right, the coach made the right call.

Yeah two things need to happen:

1) We need to DOMINATE the scrubs we're playing against
2) NO INJURIES PLEASE!!!!

If we meet those two criteria I think we'll be ok

Someone tell me what we prove by dominating second teamers and Practice squad players and guys that will not even be in Dallas before the weekend is over ?

Is kinda like saying the Hurricanes beat Western Bolivia college 75- 10 , they are going to be a " force " this year. I just do not get what kind of thought goes into getting satisfaction by our first team beatig up on backups. What are we going to unleash an unreal blitz package now ? We will be the laughing stock of the NFL. New England tried that a few weeks ago and the St. Louis scrubs ran up and down against them and no one is going to convince me since that happened that New England is in trouble.

To be honest and the press being the press, using our starters against their backups is not going to improve anything.
1 We kick their backups rear ends the press will say, " Dolphins looked improved but remember, it was against some guys that will not be around Sun "
2 If Dallas stacks the box with the backups, which they surely will do, the press will say " Dolphins running attack anemic even against Dallas backups "

I see no win win for anyone here at all by playing the starters. OK, want to play them, one MAYBE two series , then get em out.

I agree. One maybe two series max. Then let our reserves beat the snot out of theirs.

I just want to watch us win, see our running game reappear, and come away with no injuries. Don't give a tinker's damn what the press or anyone else thinks about it.

This is absolutely correct. We simply cannot start every year 0-2 or 0-3
and expect to have any sort of lasting success. It's easier to run
downhill than uphill. It's easier to sail with the wind than against the
wind, and it's easier to make the playoffs when you can start off well.

It's no magic formula, be we absolutely need to be full blast headed
into the season.

The press has nothing to do with us winning games. Getting our
starters on the same page, and building some confidence with
success, on the other hand, does. I could not possibly care less
what Armando, Cote, Omar, or any of the assorted lot of numbskull
beat writers say. I want our starters to get to a point where Sparano
thinks they're ready for week one.

However long or short Sparano plays them is fine with me. It's his
job on the line.
