So I believe league rules allow the team to choose up to 6 team captains. I could be wrong, but that is the number I am rolling with. There isn't a set limit for offense, defense and special teams, so feel free to allocate your six however way you want. Here are my six: 1. Chad Henne-The unofficial captain of EVERY NFL team is their QB. So why not make it official? Henne has taken control of this team when called upon. 2. Jake Long-The number one overall pick and the cornerstone of the offensive line. Going into his third year, he has already appeared in Pro Bowls and is recognize league wide as one of, if not THE best left tackle in the game. His game is nasty and hopefully the other linemen follow his lead. 3. Yeremiah Bell-The longest tenured Miami Dolphins player currently. The Bullfrog is the epitome of hard work, dedication and focus. The former pro bowler has maintained throughout multiple regime changes, scheme variances and tag team partners in his secondary. He is our security blanket and one we have had to crawl under for protection more often than we care to remember. But every time he protects us and makes the boogeymen go away. 4. Randy Starks-The youngish grizzled vet is the perfect example of an unselfish teammate. The Garbage Pail Kid shows up, gets his assignment and executes it all under the guise of it being for the greater good of the team. He is the leader of the defensive front seven and should be recognized accordingly. 5. Lousaka Polite-Quite possibly the most underrated and under appreciated player in the league. He is a throwback to when football players were mean and reveled in causing bones to quake upon contact. Lou's last name may be Polite, but he is anythign but to opposing defenses. His game is one of imposing his will upon another human being. Forcing someone against their will to go somewhere they don't want to go...and paying a dear price for it. His attitude and success rate is what every player should strive for, regardless of position. Plus, this should be Miami's way of telling him that while others may not understand what he brings to the table, we do. 6. Karlos Dansby-Somewhat rare to have a new guy come in and become a captain so quickly, but Karlos has earned it through his work ethic, talent level and early contributions. He may not talk as much as Crowder and may not grab the headlines like Marshall, but he is the most talented player we have on defense and is that unit's backbone this season. If you take your eyes off of the ball while in play, and just watch Karlos do his thing, you start to appreciate exactly what he has to offer and why Miami made him an extremely rich man. So those are my six. I should note that had he been here still, I probably would have made Greg Camarillo a captain as well. As it were, Davone Bess is another solid season away from grabbing the Greg Camarillo Award (if you will) in terms of coming in off the street and proving everyone wrong through hard work...and then never letting off the throttle. Who are yours?
6 now? If so, - Chad Henne (vote of confidence more than anything) - Jake Long - Brandon Marshall - Karlos Dansby - Yeremiah Bell - Randy Starks
This is not LOST and i am bad with numbers. lol 1. Henne 2. Long 3. Williams 4. Dansby 5. Bell 6. Crowder
Penny is hard to choose but you almost have to because of what he means to the offense. Its like having a 2nd head coach.
IMO a captain is a leader. Injured or not the ones I listed by the way they act around the team (influence/ Penny/Bell) or by the way they play (Ricky/Jake)
I think a little too soon for him, hopefully next year. I like: Henne Long Bell Denney Dansby want Williams, probally Cobbs.
Marques Douglas Charles grant. Charlie Anderson Donald Thomas Sean Smith. lets get'em guys, go team...
there are too many. Why not just one on both sides of the ball? The captain's are pretty much leaders and too many leaders isn't a good thing. My two choices would be Henne and Starks.
Ted Ginn jr - We sent him to the 49ers for a pick. If that doesn't scream team captain what does? Reagan Maui'a - He crashes through walls, not so much through the offensive line. Of course with moves like this he is just trying to show humility, pass it on down. Hercules Satele - The distant cousin of our very own samson satele, if the distant cousin of an ex dolphin can't lead us to the promised land, then pack your bags the rapture is upon us.
