The guy is a good tackler.....I am sick of our Safeties letting guys run through them, past them and over them, and then dropping INT's that a 3 year old would make. Hope we can work out a deal wih Clark.

Right. If they sign Clark and if they go after a veteran WR, it takes pressure off of having to get a WR and a safety in this year's draft.

So did I, but back then someone needed to tell Reed and Lofton to be scared of them because they sure weren't.

(except for that one game in '92)

From reading around this is looking like a done deal already. though I don't imagine we will hear anything until tommorow, curious to know what we are paying for him. Definitely happy to have him here, I just hope we don't get a rep for overpaying because it will hurt us in the long run.

If you think Clark and Bryant are long term solutions then you better be comfortable at last place in the AFC East. Oh wait, the Bills are in this division. I guess 3rd place.

@ the person saying Taylor Mays will be a bust. I think he should consider the linebacker position in my opinion. He's like a bigger Roy L. Williams.

They're not going to go after a FA receiver, they're are none available that are better than anything we have. It's entirely conceivable we can pick up an FA nose tackle and only have to draft a couple OLB early. DO NOT be surprised if we manage to unload Camarillo, Fasano, and Ginn for draft picks so we can completely revamp the passing attack.

better than Wilson in coverage, and hits like a mack truck! I'd sign him for the intimidation factor alone!! Wes Welker and WM probably still have nightmares about him! LOL

He's almost the exact size as Louis Oliver, as long as he doesn't get any bigger he should be fine at safety.

yeah i agree with you about dumping a few of those players for picks
they arent really gonna help you get to that next level anyway

as far as the NT position it might be tough to fill that in free agency but it would be nice to go into the draft fully intending to fill the most dire need IMO and that is outside linebacker. Get two of them early indeed

Verticle limit may be on to something. If he cant make it at safety, a team probably would try him at LB. I guess I am like most of the scouts and radio heads that feel he is a workout warrior and the talent he has just does not translate to the field. His stiffness is a huge concern.

Louis Oliver is one of my favorite dolpins of all time. I remember when we passed on him with our early 1st rounder, I wanted to cry. Then when we picked him later in the first I was estatic. Anyway, I remember he was pretty stiff as well and had great straight-line speed but wasnt the greatest in pure coverage.

I just did some digging and Ryan Clark is 30 yrs old, an 8 yr veteran who was undrafted out of LSU in 2002. With Will Allen (31), and Yeremiah Bell (32) - Do we really need another old man roaming around back there?

PlEaSe, pLeAsE, PlEaSe draft Taylor Mays or Eric Berry. . . ,

Heres the blockbuster deal of the year.

Ginn Camarillo fasano and a 2nd for Marshall and Scheffler

(I still dont like Marshalls attitude but for that deal I am willing to take the wait and see approach)

We need a nice mix of vets and younger players. We will have the next 2-3 drafts to get young guys to groom. No worries there.

    BESS OR MOSS....ANSWER BESS
    Bess or Holmes.....Bess
    Bess or Colston.....Bess
    Bess or Mason......Bess

    Fasano or Vernon Davis...Fasano again

Wilson was rated the 15th best safety in the NFL
and we all know the ending to that horror show

Yeah except Wilson pretty much sucked at both the first half of the season. I hope Clark is better but would want Sharper over any out there.

Would you pick Louis again though? I would in a heart beat. I loved watching him play. As for may's hes had a very solid College career. And as for as his negatives go let me quote you what espn said about another USC Safety....

    from ESPN.com...

That's what espn wrote about Troy Polamalu's when he came out. The only liget [Sorry Kegit] knock on May's that I have seen is he goes for the 'big hit' rather than the INT.

I'm not sure about Mays, he's borderline average at coverage so you're going to get another Yeremiah Bell, a big hitter with top end speed, doesn't always wrap up his guy and always looking to make a huge hit. Mays has gotten called for many bonehead personal fouls because of this, he's a headhunter and many of his hits are always borderline late. His movement isn't very fluid like you would want from a Free Safety. He is a stiff there like the posters here call him. If we didn't already have Yeremiah Bell, I would want Mays in the 2nd round but I'm not sure he will be there.

    LOL @ Taylor Mays.

He's the third best safety in the draft and he's mediocre in coverage. We have no shot at Berry. Earl Thomas is a realistic option but if we sign Clark in FA we can use the #12 pick on a real offensive weapon. I'm smelling C.J. Spiller.

Taylor Mays will be a rookie and will be on the "upswing" of his career. His coverage skills will only improve at the next level. Eric Berry is the better coverage man but, its not where you start that matters - its where you end up that counts. I would welcome either of the "young bloods" to the roster.

No NT is worth the #12 pick. No OLB at this moment in time looks like they're worthy of the #12 pick. Ireland has a reported huge hard on for Spiller. I could definitely see them going that route.

Spiller is a good pick. Ricky says he's retiring after this season and Ronnie's durability is his Achilles heel. If we've sufficiently addressed WR and NT through FA/Trade, I can deal with Spiller at 12.

Look a little deeper at the stats you are quoting. Do a sort by NFL Rating in the last column. And see who grades out higher.

Also the number that really pops out is the completion percentage to players in Clarks area vs Gibril's.

The percentage of completions to said players area:

    Clark: 38.5%
    Wilson: 58.1%

Sorting by completion percentage to the players area, Clark comes in at number 5. The only guy above him with comparable snap count is Darren Sharper. Gibril comes in at a solid number 32...

I'm assuming you mean in the 2010 draft because NT's are, to me, far more worth picking high in the first than Rb's.... on average.

Accurate. He really wasn't very good in coverage at all, though he had 3-4 good games against Jim Kelly.
