Exactly, which is why last night's game (while great) wasn't the be all end all because we really needed Balt to lose a conference game. Now they just need to lose one more. At this point, I think we can beat them on a 9-7 tie breaker if they lose a conference game and we don't lose to Jax. It makes my head hurt.
It's calculating strength of victory based on its projections though. There is no way to actually know what it'll be until the last week of the season. To be safe, Pitt needs to beat Baltimore
Do you really think New England is going to lose to Buffalo? It would be tremendous, but in all honesty, I just can't see it happening. New England traveling to Houston in Week 17 though, that could be an entirely different story. I would expect that offense, even without Daniels, to give New England's defense fits. That said, I expect them to give Miami's defense fits as well.
It would probably be better if we all wait a week and take things one game at a time. The Jags are feasting on lower level competition this year, but they have some explosive offensive players who can reach the edges of the defense, first thing first, we have to beat the Jags. It is comforting that Sparano is 5-0 in December.
I'm not sure we can trust this algorithm. In B. Sebo's scneario where we get a bye, SD is 10-6 and the 4th seed. How is that possible given our head to head defeat to them? Unless there is some 3 team tie breaker procedure where something else is the tie breaker?
Jax is the critical game. There is no scenario outside the realm of science fiction where we get in while still losing to Jax. So yes, let's get through sunday and then see where we're at.
I just drew up a scenario where we finish with the four wins and a first round bye!!... it is possible!... LMAO...
