4-13-MIA 22 (7:02) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre pass deep middle to 83-C.Stuckey for 22 yards, TOUCHDOWN. Miracle erased, 9-4. 4-10-HOU 36 (:52) (Shotgun) 8-M.Schaub pass deep left to 80-A.Johnson to MIA 41 for 23 yards (37-Y.Bell). Miracle erased, 10-3. Look how close our team is to being 10-3. That would put us up there with the Titans, Giants, Steelers, and Panthers in the elite group. We didn't have those plays go our way, and WE ARE 8-5. But to think that we are THAT close to being a top 3 team in the AFC, thats unbelievable.
Very true Gish, But we are what we are. We are a Ted Gin Drop against oakland, yes those raiders, from being 7-6. There are cases both ways. The more of those plays that are made compared to not made will ultimatley deterime if we get into the playoffs or not.
Im not gonna start thinking were one year away just yet,we had some luck go our way and i take every win with joy.
The Stuckey TD isn't what beat the Dolphins. It gave them the lead but that's it. The Schaub run obviously was legit and the biggest L of the year
IF I were to pick the two plays that could possibly come back to haunt us, it's these: 3-10-NYJ 10 (:10) 10-C.Pennington pass deep right intended for 19-T.Ginn INTERCEPTED by 24-D.Revis at NYJ -8. Touchback. Penalty on MIA-19-T.Ginn, Offensive Pass Interference, declined. 4-2-MIA 3 (:07) (Shotgun) 8-M.Schaub up the middle for 3 yards, TOUCHDOWN. The fourth down conversions hurt, no doubt about it, but in both of these instances we had a chance to win the game in the final 10 seconds and failed to do so. Against the Jets, Chad tried to force the ball to Ginn in the back of the end zone and got picked off. Against Houston, our linebackers couldn't stay home, allowing Matt Schaub to jaunt into the end zone. Hard to believe, but we're 20 seconds away from being 10-3. Still, we've also won 4 games by less than 7 points, so I can't really complain too much about plays coming back to haunt us. I'm just shocked we're 8-5 and as competitive as we are.
I don't buy the Jets game argument.. If Farve doesn't launch the TD and they are trailing in the 4th the Jets don't sit on the ball and give us the chance to come back...
By that logic, you can almost always point to one play as the cause of a win or a loss. And that's what makes hindsight so difficult ... and also somewhat pointless ...
it's true that we have won some close games. and some to bad teams. we have had a very weak schedule this season. Hopefully we add some more firepower to the offense to be ready for a much more difficult 2009 season. If we win the division, we will be facing Denver and Pittsburgh as our flex AFC games. We're also gonna have to play Tennessee, Indy, Houston, and Jacksonville. Thats not exactly easy. Throw in the NFC South, and we're looking at a tough season.
man, i couldnt agree more. everytime people talk to me about the resurgence this team has made, i cant help but think/say... and yeah, if favre hadnt pulled one out of his you know what in week one, and if we hadnt completely crapped the bed against the texans... we'd be 10 and 3... its crazy.
Hands down the Texans game!!! I've gone to that game 3 years in a row now and come away feeling like someone just slapped my mom, kissed my wife, and stole my wallet. I don't know what it is but we lose at the last g**damn minute
Bad game changing plays happen, but so do good game changing plays. I am perfectly content with where we currently are.
yeah, i agree. we could easily have lost to seattle and oakland from making huge mistakes. then this thread would be about how we are 6-7, and oh so close to 10-3. lol. we are what we are, but its mind blowing that we are 2 desperate 4th down heaves away from 10-3 only one season after being 0-13 at this point.
If Seneca Wallace does not overthrow his receiver we are 7-6 If Carpenter misses the last second field goal we are 6-7 If Jamarcus goes down the field instead of getting sacked we are 5-8 Lots of coulda woulda
Ehh, don't know about VERY easy. We play in one of the toughest divisions in football. It's not a HARD schedule relatively speaking, but in today's NFL, any given Sunday could treat you with a tough opponent. Think the Jets were worried about the Broncos or 49ers the last two weeks? Wasn't so easy was it? Just don't sell short what these boys have been able to accomplish. This has been very, very impressive by any man's standards.
my if your if You know what I mean. Technically no one has an easy schedule. But compared to everyone else's, ours was very easy. Our divsion got to play BOTH of the horrible west divisions. I'm not discrediting what our team has done. We have won games against bad teams, and against good ones. Thats exactly what good teams should do, take advantage of an easy schedule. We are a good team, and are close to being a great one. Just because the truth isn't wrapped in a silver lining, doesn't mean it is any less true. I'm just as optimistic as the next guy, if not more. Go Dolphins!!!
maybe some of the players browse the fan sites. im trying to keep them from getting big heads. (i stole the winking smiley from your post by dragging it into mine. muahahaha!!!)
These fans will haunt us. But in any good season where you have some bad breaks, you get some good breaks. As others have already pointed out. Didn't read everything, but I don't think I saw what if... L.T. gets in the endzone on that goal line stand? We just gotta be thankful when the breaks bounce our way and try to forget when they don't. Unfortunately sometimes the bad breaks are more memorable...
The officiating in the Jet's game was horrific bottom line, the media/leagues love of Favre may have cost us a game.
