My oldest sister, Karen, who lives in Royal City, WA, had a heart attack and has to have a stent put in. Those of you who know me well here know that it's been a year since I had my heart attack and my 43 year old brother died of one, incidentally, right after he had a stent put in. Prayers for her would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks.
you got it. my dad's friend had to have some stints put in and change his diet but other than that he is doing fine now
Been a really tough year for you sweetheart. Prayers of course out to Karen and her family, and of course that does include you Mary
You don't even need to ask Mary. Your whole family has my thoughts and prayers daily. Take care of yourself, please.
Thank you guys. I appreciate it. Her doctor believes it's a result of something she had in high school - an inflammation of the sac that lines her heart - that caused it. Unfortunately, they're waiting until Tuesday morning to do it because they have to first clean out the mess as a result of the inflammation, which is why I'm so worried. When my brother had his stent put in, they did it right after his heart attack.
I have added her and her family (that of course includes you, Mary) to my prayers. Genetics can be a real bear! Keep us in the loop, OK?
Yes Michael - mother is Nancy Alice and sister is Karen Joy and Karen's daughter is Marissa Joy - she just got married 2 weeks ago. Thank you.
Incidentally and interestingly enough btw, the Joy middle name comes from the fact that my mom was overjoyed when she conceived Karen. It took so long for her to get pregnant with Karen and then when Karen married her husband John, it took them quite a long time to conceive Marissa. Likewise, Karen felt overjoyed when she found out she was pregnant with Marissa, Joy was the obvious middle name again. I would hate for Marissa to lose her mom a couple weeks after her wedding. Not even sure if she's back from her honeymoon. My sister is the kind of person who wouldn't want to disrupt Marissa's honeymoon. I'm hoping my other sister notified her.
Just talked to Karens husband. They started the operation this morning at 7:30 Spokane time. She's in Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, which is about 3 hours from Royal City. Things are not seeming to go well. He said that they have to clean out the entire mess from the disease that she had and they promised to come once per hour to the surgical waiting room. They've been there twice and said it's going to be a much longer operation than planned and they're not sure what her outcome will eventually be. At the very least, the doctor said that if she makes it through the operation successfully, if she falls and lands on her chest or is driving and hits the steering wheel with her chest, it's not going to be a good thing. Thanks for your continued prayers for her guys and gals and I'll keep you updated.
I forgot to tell you guys that Marissa made it back from her honeymoon yesterday cutting it short to come be with her mom. My sister was able to get ahold of Rissa and she hightailed it back, so she has her and John's (Karen's husband) entire family there in the waiting room praying. I also told him that many of you guys from here were praying for her as well.
Just talked to John. Karen is out of surgery. It was very long, and very trying but she pulled through it well. She's now in the ICU, and John said that immediately when she got into ICU, they made her sit up on the side of the bed. Very strange, IMO, immediately after open heart surgery. I don't know why they would do that. Anyway, thanks again everyone. John said barring any problems tonight, she'll be in a private room tomorrow.
They want the circulation to be going normally. It is an effort to avoid blood clots in the legs post operatively. Very common from my experiance visiting folks. My continued prayers.
Very glad she made it through this okay Miss Mary. Please keep this up to date. Keith, you never cease to amaze me
Good to hear. I'll continue to say t'hilim until she's out of the woods completely. BTW Keith, do you still need? I still say Psalm 20 for you too.
Ain't he great Kenny. We're so lucky to have our own personal Pastor on thephins---and friend. Great news Mary. they did the same to my sister after her amputation. So it it common. Just laying there is not good. My prayers continue for you and your sister.
You are definetly being tested this year. It will make you a better person. It already has made you tons of friends and well wishers on this site alone. My heart goes out to you and your family.
It is a great thing Pastor. You are a blessing to all of us, a friend and a wonderful person to know. Thank you my friend.
You guys - she was moved into a private room today. Thank you for all your prayers. Also, the hospital has a website where I can email her - how cool is that? Thanks again.
Sorry I am late to this Mary. May your sister Karen recover from the surgery and enjoy the rest of her life.
Good news all. I just spoke to Karen. She's being released on Saturday. She sounded great! She told me to thank everyone here for the prayers and to keep you guys posted on how she's doing. I'm ecstatic and thank you for all your prayers.
