Who else here are poker fans? I play online on pokerstars but i mainly play with friends. We normally get a pretty good game going. My greatest moment in poker was a few weeks ago. It was an 8 person tournament, $10 buy ins so we did 1st place gets 60 and 2nd get 20. There was 4 people left, i was short stack with six chips. 3rd place had 30, 2nd place had 40, and first place had 250 chips, (we play 40 chips per tournament) anyway i doubled up my chips and eventually got to 2nd place with about 30 chips left. First place had 290. Well then i started going in all in with decent cards and he kept folding so i won the blinds. i think they were 7 and 14 blinds at this point. Then i got greedy and went all in with bad cards trying to get the big blinds and he called and had me dominated, i some how got lucky and won with a pair, i forget the hand but anyway i eventually won the whole thing. My worst beat was a few days ago. I get pocket kings, go all in, the person calls with pocket 10's. Flop is 10 8 10. He gets quad 10's and the river i get my 3rd king.

What are some of your favorite poker moments and least favorite moments?

I like to play on Fulltilt on occasion, have played in a few tournaments in Atlantic City (like 100$ buy ins), the worst beat I had was in a AC tournament someone flopped a 10 on the river when I had pocket Kings and he had pocket 10s. I was milking him completely had about 3/4 of my stack and his in....he was nuts for playing that hand really but hey thats poker. Bad beats seem to be a norm at Fulltilt with low buyins people fish for flushes and straights all day and night so you get horrible calls and bad beats on a regular basis there in my experience. Can't recall how many times I had someone actually call an all-in with nothing but a draw chance and get it at Full Tilt.

those aren't really bad beats, you should play pocket Kings aggressive before the flop, then you are often pot committed.

can you play cash tourneys online these days? I thought the laws changed on that?

It would appear that only Party Poker was sealed off to the US. Full Tilt and PokerStars are really the top two out there and we can play in those, I'm not complaining... but I did like Party Poker the best (won the most money there). It's funny though, I haven't deposited money in over a year... started with a zero balance about 9 months ago on PokerStars, used my VIP points to build up my cash balance (you win entrance into cash tourneys and then un-register, you get T$, which you then use to play in cash tourneys, and if you finish in the money, you get real $ in return.... heh). Of course I did have over 8,000 vip points from playing cash before then... but lately I just play for the fun... nothing serious anymore... don't trust the random card engines that these sites are using, seen too much crazy stuff to believe. But I suppose it's like any form of gambling, don't risk more than you are willing to lose. Unlike the days a while back when I was on Party Casino, putting hundreds on a single slot pull... LMAO.

Those are not really bad beats. They are bad, but not nearly as bad as I have seen or even experienced. Everyone has lost with Pocket Kings or Aces to a lower pocket pair. It happens. The worst bad beats are when your opponent has maybe 1 out to win and there is only one card to come, and he catches that one out on the river.

For instance, I played a pocket Queens slow against 4 guys in a hand. The flop is Q, 3, K. So I bet out with my set of Queens, and the guy to my left goes all in behind me. 2 more guys call. ($1/$2 blinds, about $60 to call, I have $125) So I call instead of going all in. The turn is another 3. I now have a full house Queens full of 3s, and I bet the other 2 guys out of the pot. The river is a King, which totally counterfiets my Queens full if he or anyone else was holding a King (it would make him Kings full of 3s) Well thank god he was all in because he turned over a pocket pair of threes, which makes his quad 3s better than my full house.

He had one card in the deck to win the hand and he got it on the turn.

I had a similar thing happen to me on PartyPoker several years ago... played a live cash table (not a tourney) for the FIRST TIME... ended up busting out when my full house got beat by quad 8's... he hit the quad on the river.. i threw up and vowed never to play again... 24 hours I was back :sidelol:

When you guys play on the net, what sites do you play on ( real money?). How are you able to deposit money into your accounts? I've tried recently and it is a real pain in teh *** for anyone in the US to deposit money into their full tilt or pokerstars account. The site always seems to crash when I'm trying to use a Visa or Mastercard, and all of the other forms seem to be only outside the US. So how are you guys doing it?

Online poker is stupid. It's all about who is luckier at dragging the bar all the way to the right and clicking the "all in" button.

Its a terrible beat when you all but get knocked out of a cash tournament that you put up 150$ to get into with a shot a 5grand  There have been tons of donkey beats on FullTilt, really they happen almost every game because the stakes are so low, but that beat I had was on a cash game for decent stakes so it stands out. I would have been the chip leader instead I was almost broke.

    Would love to.

Fulltilt for me, and have done 2 live tourneys in AZ (Casino AZ). What a blast. And yes, Live is so much better than online, but online has its moments and can be well structured too.

Well I have been known to play a little poker. I used to be a prop player for Absolute poker during college. I did this for about a year and a half till Absolute stopped using prop players. I also played tons of NL tourney on Party and Stars. I wish online poker would go back to the good old days of nettelller, partypoker, and prop players.

Sorry Cool Calm Mike but online poker is far from stupid. The structure or certain tourney's can certainly turn them into allin fests but there are plenty of well structured online tournements. Most people do not want to sit in front of there computers for 8+ hours so turbo's and other types of quick tourney's are abound. I understand were your coming from just try to use this knowledge to your advantage.
