Bill Polian, confirms what most of us already know. SFL is fully on in Indy. With Mannings approval apparently.

This whole thing just stinks of Indy dropping games on purpose to me.

Not a shocker. Indy would have to be insane not to with or without Manning's approval.

Maybe not on purpose, but they're not knocking themselves out to find solutions either. And they will be rewarded for it.
Yet we're supposed to be pelased because our guys are "playing hard" and winning a few games. I'm sure we'll all remember this season fondly in 15 years when Indy has another SB or two and we have still been crap. -

I really hope Miami gives up the farm for Luck, I don't see why the Colts wouldnt atleast think about it if Manning proves to be even 75% of what he was. Give the man a ton of draft picks, get Blackmon, keep wayne and a healthy clark back, use picks for defense and running back and they could win a SB in the next few years. And we could get luck. I can hope anyways........

Damn it Peyton. I hope you neck gets the AIDS.

Just keep going public with your comments from above so it continues to filter down into your team...What a fu^%in scam and so on purpose..When a team knows that the front office doesn't give a **** about the season, then for the teamits natural to follow suit..brilliant POS..
If I know he has gone out of his way to see Luck in person twice, so does his team...Impossible to create chemistry in the locker room...objective accomplished. -
They paint a pretty good picture of a marriage between Andrew and Peyton. I just wonder if reality is the same as the picture.
Let's pretend for a moment that Peyton Manning really is NOT thrilled with the idea of Andrew Luck coming in. Not exactly a stretch of the imagination. Let's pretend for a moment as well that Andrew Luck isn't exactly thrilled with the idea of coming to Indianapolis and just having to wait out however long Peyton decides he's going to keep playing. Again, not exactly a stretch of the imagination.
If that's the case, the cozy relationship between the Mannings and the Lucks would be pretty interesting. The Manning family, after all, are the engineers of the Eli Manning snub back in 2004. Just sayin...PhinPhanatic, Mile High Fin and ssmiami like this. -
And with this news, speculation plastered on the front of Yahoo that Manning will be traded to Redskins. I'm much rather it be Miami.

Honestly, whether they want to draft a QB or not, you won't know it until after the fact. Even if they don't want a QB, they will say they will because if they want to trade the pick they have to threaten that will will take him.
-
And to add a Dolphins spin on this, replacing a legend that has been gone for a decade plus for a franchise that has been struggling at that position every since, that is a different story. -
This is all a big SMOKESCREEN! Of course they're gonna say they wanna pick a QB!!! How else are they going to be able to trade down if they don't lead teams to believe that they'll take Luck?!?!? Think about it. If they don't want Luck, they're not gonna say it!!!!!! They're not gonna pass on the guy to draft a LT. They'll trade down and get that stud LT.
Indy will not draft Luck! You don't ditch one of the greatest QBs of all time, who is still playing at an elite level for a college kid. If Indy gets the #1 overall pick, they will trade down and get TONS of players and picks to put around Manning.....unless his neck is worse than we all think.CanePhin likes this. -
/homer rant over -
Yes, it was a total homer rant. HOWEVER, hang with me. What if Polian wants to stick with Manning for the next 4-5 years? Its a valid decision. if he's come to this conclusion, that he does not want to draft Andrew Luck, then he HAS TO BLUFF or else he won't get full value in the trade-down.

???
What I'm saying is that if they don't want Luck, they're not gonna say it outright. If they did, they wouldn't get a big trade package for him. Everything with the draft is smoke, mirrors, and outright lies. Why would this be any different?? -
Manning's at an age where they should be thinking about his eventual successor anyway. Now it may not necessarily be Luck. They could trade down, pick up some extra draft choices, and perhaps take a guy like Tannehill who may not be ready for a few years.

HAH!
And water is wet, bears crap in the woods, this is the supreme Capt Obvious moment, there is no way they do not take Luck barring someone going Herschel Walker on them.Killerphins likes this. -
The NFL is such a WIN NOW league. It's just hard for me to believe any team would sacrifice the short term for the long term. I mean, honestly, when do you ever see that? Definitely not to the extent the Colts would be doing it. This is why I still find it hard to believe Indy takes Luck IF Manning is healthy. There's damn sure going to be some smoke and mirrors though.
-
God I hope Polian gets AIDS.
-
Honestly, I think Peyton Manning has played his last snap in the NFL already. I think the Colts know it, so does Manning. Hence the great efforts of Indy to go 0-16 or at least ensure they get the #1 pick in the draft, and the right to take Luck. Put me on record as saying it now. Manning is done. Just a feeling i have.
-
They are taking Luck bro..... -
-
And talk of "the nerve regenerating"?
They are taking Luck, unless some other Qb prospect jumps him and that seems highly unlikely -
I just don't see him playing again. I see him transitioning into a coaching role or something with the Colts. -
No matter if Peyton does indeed take another Regular Season snap, in reality, based on the neck injury, any snap, could be his last. And being left with Luck on your bench, in essence ready to go at a snaps notice makes total sense.
On one hand, people claim you dont take Luck if you plan to sit him...I disagree, its a Business while its a game. Steve Young sat behind Joe Montana, you can afford to have both Luck and Manning, you know Manning has anywhere from 1 Snap to maybe at best 3 years of solid NFL QB play, I think his 4th and 5th will be shades of Favre, some of the excellence may shine, but more than likely, its the end of the road and he cant overcome his body failing and its limitations even though the mind is still firing at 100%.
So, Colts should take Luck if sitting #1, its the best use of the value of that pick.
Some say the pressure for whomever would be replacing Manning and trying to live up to those expectations would be tremendous...well....again, thats part of the NFL, and Steve Young and Aaron Rodgers both has accomplished it while watching their predecessors till it was time.
If you pass on Luck and take any other QB later on in the draft (even if you accumulate other picks by trading our of #1) you are still faced with THAT QB replacing a legend. If I am the COLTS, I want to draft the CHOSEN ONE with the HYPE saying he can handle it vs. some other QB and then looking back and saying we passed on the BEST Available. That doesnt make any business or game sense.
There medical staff better be on top of their game to accept that risk if they trade out. -
-
I still look at it from Colts FO side of things....why would they pass on Luck "the next sure thing" and draft any other QB in his place but still have to put that 2nd choice QB in the same situation as what Luck would have been placed in? The simple fact is "someone" has to inevitably replace Manning. If you are the Colts FO wouldnt you want "the best Prospect QB since Elway" vs. telling your fans, we passed on him cause it wouldnt be fair to him so we went with plan B or C or D?
Now, Luck could be the one saying no I dont want Indy for reasons X, Y, or Z. but from Colts standpoint, you wait for him to say that before you state YOU dont want to put Luck in that situation. It would be a fiduciary nightmare from the business side. -
You could say ah, but Andrew Luck will be missing a year on his career now. Maybe, maybe not. He won't be racking up any mileage during the year he sits out, so perhaps what he's doing is actually prolonging his career by a year. But what about the money, right? Well, the rookie wage scale has eliminated like 70% of that money. In the larger picture of his career, he's not giving up that much money, and by going to a better market and better situation, he'd arguably make that money back and then some.
Listen, Andrew Luck isn't coming to the Dolphins. It's a low odds bet regardless of what happens. Do we have the ammunition for a trade? Are we going to be the team he chooses to play the Giants' part in another Eli situation, if he does that? I'm not being homer-ish here, the Luck thing is over for Miami. I'm just saying that if I am Andrew Luck, I'm telling the Colts that I'm not playing for them. I consider myself a pretty rational, logical person, and I would only be making a logical, rational decision. -
Just wondering what scenario you are using to determine telling Indy you dont want them to draft you, etc.
