Well, our division has been loading up on WRs. It's going to make it more exciting as fans of the Fins. Had a debate today with some coworkers (mostly Patriots fans with a Jets fans mixed in)
How would you rank the WRs in our division now? I know the poll asks for the best combo, but would like to see everyone rank them.
1) Marshall + Bess/Hartline - yeah, I'm a homer. I was tempted to rank Jets first, but Marshall is the best WR in the division (if we use him wisely) and gives us a slight edge. He'll make Bess and Hartline better
2) Braylon Edwards + Santonio Holmes - they are going to be good, very good this year, but I believe Sanchez will still have ups and downs in his 2nd year
3) Randy Moss + Welker - they've dropped IMO. Moss wasn't as effective (or at least wasn't a elite WR) plus Welker probably won't be fully recovered
4) Lee Evans + Parrish/Hardy (too bad TO isn't signed, would make the poll better)
AFC East WRs, rank em please

Marshall + Bess/Hartline/Ginn

Your forgetting the jets also have Cotchery, but I would still have them at 3 behind the Pats. Edwards cant catch.

Miami (homer)
New England (depending on Welker's Health, without him Jets leapfrog, IMO)
Jets

Welker has the most receptions of any WR in the last 3 years. Moss has the most TDs of any WR in the last 3 years. They are the best in the league, not just our division.

I would pick the Pats but with the Welker injury I'm not sure right now.

Pats.
Jets.
Dolphins
Bills.
The reason we cannot be ahead of the Jets or Pats is seen in the way you listed.
You have:
Brandon Marshall and Bess/Hartline/Ginn
We do not have a clear second option right now. Both the Pats and Jets do. Now Randy is aging and Wes hurt his knee. But seeing that we can only base this on last year, I have to give if to them until the tandem is broken up.
Also Sanchez should also not affect the picking of the WR core. If QBs were included the Pats are miles ahead of the competition. However Marshall is the best WR in the division.
I would pick the Fins over all of them if I were building a franchise for years. But if I had to win in one year, I'd take the Dolphins WR's 3rd. -

Moss is still a beast but he'll be hitting the downside of his career soon.
Welker is nothing without Moss and Brady and now he wont be close to 100% by the time the season starts.
Edwards is another Chambers: An inconsistant nderachiever.
I like Santonio Holmes I think he is a very good WR, I would not consider him an elite talent yet
Cotchery is a solid complimentary guy.
Evans is a very good WR, but he is stuck in Buffalo(aka Oakland East).
Marshall is a top 5 WR, and arguably the best among his age group.
We all know Bess is an excellent slot WR.
I believe Hartline can be a very good No.2 WR. -
Top tandems in the NFL: (being realistic here)
- Moss/Welker
- Wayne/Clark
- Johnson/Daniels
- Jennings/Driver
- Fitzgerald/Breaston
- Jackson/Gates
- Jackson/Maclin
- Austin/Witten
- Colston/Meachum
- White/Gonzalez
- Rice/Harvin
- Marshall/?
- Holmes/Edwards

Still think they are better.
yeesh.... saying that was like regurgitating your lunch a little and then having to swallow it back down.
Really does it matter though?
We have a top tier WR and a great supporting cast now.
Before this trade we were bottom of the league in the WR dept.
You don't go from worst tandem to the best overnight.
Were more than competitive at WR now and that's all that matters. -

We haven't seen our corps with Marshall, so you can't vote them. We haven't seen Edwards and Holmes together...We've seen Parrish and Evans....meh....But we have seen Welker and Moss work together and they are, until we see these other guys, the best in the AFCE...

Just ranking them for the 2010 season
Jets
Patriots
Dolphins
Bills
Someone please explain to me how Marshall/Hartline/Bess is better than Edwards/Holmes/Cotchery?
Santonio got more yards than even Marshall did last year. Edwards is a beast when he's not dropping everything thrown to him. Cotchery is better than Bess. -
Evans and Roscoe :pointlol:
-
moss is aging and welker has a serous knee injury and might not recover as good as it was... so they are big question marks
-
Next question. :shifty: -
Its too soon to tell how good Harvin and Maclin will be, although their futures look bright.

NFL= Not For Long, or what have ya done for me lately or can do for me in the near future.
So, IMO, I'd take our WR corps now today over the other 3 in the AFCE.Phinatic425 likes this. -
I feel like if Henne improves over last season, we could be scary good on offense. Remember we actually scored more points in 2009 then we did in 2008. Our defense was better in '08, so thats why now we need heavy defense in draft, and should bring back JT.
Our WRs have a lot of upside. Cam, Hartline and Bess could all be solid #2's. Having an elite WR to go along with 3 #2's, are you kidding? They could be amazing, not saying they will, but its very possible. We watched every game, we saw what some of these "experts" didnt see.
Camarillo- Didn't drop any passes in '09, a year coming off of major surgery. He should be better in '10.
Bess-He's like our Welker, going into his 3rd year now.
Hartline-Showed some flashes of greatness.
Marshall-Well, he's simply elite. -
I don't think that the Jets have that great of a recieving core, i would take the 3 average guys we have now (hartline, bess, and cammy) over Edwards. Our guys can catch, aren't divas, and are cheap. The Jets do have Holmes...but he is no Marshall.

The key to NE being a better group at Wr, is one Tom Brady. That puts them a notch above all others. The rest of the AFC East has younger unproven Qb's.
OK take away the Qb's and I'll put NE and Miami neck and neck. Marshall is better than any Wr in the east, and Welkers coming off a pretty good injury. Moss has to be considered still excellent until father time proves that to be wrong. Hartline is going to be one heck of a Wr when lining up opposite Marshall. Bess/Cam/Ginn will also flourish with teams no longer being able to stack 8-9 in the box.
The Jetsons top 3 are solid but Edwards is so up and down it's not even funny. Holmes misses 4 games but he is a good Wr. They're not far behind but behind still....
The Bills? Lee Evans and who? -

Without a doubt, while the jests and Fins have improved, NE is still #1 until proven otherwise... -

But...looking at it from Day 1 of this season in particular...Wes is out for awhile....and I dont think Moss is as effective beating double teams any more. Moss is still great...but just not where he once was.
I think Miami's recievers could be tops in the AFC East by the end of the season....
Braylon drops everything...always has...always will.
Right now....
Marshall is better than Moss
Bess is better than a hurt Welker
And I would rather have Hartline than Braylon Edwards to be honest. Its not because Im being a homer...but the guy just has hands of stone.
If for whatever reason....Ginn ever just suddenly "got it" Miami's recievers could be elite. Possibly tops in the league. Thats a big "if" though. -

Love to see you re rank that taking injuries, suspensions into account...I dont even know when Welker is getting back on the field... -

I would tell you without a shadow of a doubt Miami has the most UPSIDE of the recievers listed...Larryfinfan likes this.
