Porter fined $5,000. Not for that altercation with Rhodes before the Jet's game. Not for today's comments about the officials. But for not wearing enough white on his socks. http://www.dolphinsgab.com/2009/11/05/porter-fined-5-grand-for-uniform-violation/ Such a joke Rhodes can act a fool on our sides pushing and hitting people, but doesn't get fined. Yet Porter gets fined for this?
Joey commented on it, said he will be appealing it because he never got a warning. The most ****ed up part (the way he put it) Is that they TAKE the money, and then let you know about it. So you are guilty, until proven innocent in No Fun League. Update your sig sir
As dumb as it may be, the rules are rules. He's been in the league long enough, he should know the league's policy on uniforms. I am not saying that I agree with it, but the rules are in place to deter players from getting crazy with the uniforms. This has nothing to do with Kerry Rhodes. IMO, it was stupid for Rhodes to do that, but a little pushing and shoving in a rivaled game is nothing new.
I agree with the fact that rules are rules. But I think there has to be moderation. He isn't wearing a different' color chinstrap, or different colored socks, or wrong shoes (all of those violations happened many times in this league) We are talking about the fact that his socks weren't high enough. Seriously? And he SHOULD of gotten a warning.
Really... the NFL has a person on payroll studying players uniforms every week to make sure their uni's comply? Wow...
Looks something like this? http://www.blogcdn.com/nfl.fanhouse.com/media/2008/11/joey-porter-112608.jpg
I have a question. If it was Jake Long or Matt Roth, would the same rules apply? How would they even know where those guys socks ended and their legs started? Just askin???
Honestly, like dead seriously, I think there is a crew who watches everygame looking for uniform infractions, imo.
Porter should in turn sue the sock company for not having enough elastic in his sock to keep them up so the NFL could see the white part. Or sue the Clorox company for not providing good service.
There is an official assigned to each game to monitor this type of thing. He will literally walk the sidelines, its not confined only to on being on the field. The NFL takes this type of thing very seriously, all the players are aware. A lot of players get fined for this, more than you would believe. I think Clinton Portis gets fined on a weekly basis for it.
Sounds like a good job in these economic times! Where can I sign up to be on the Uniform Police Squad?
Me too. You'd have the second best seat for every game. Crowder has the best seat for watching the game. ZING!!!
Say what you will (about it being nit picky), but the uniform code is in place for a reason. The players know all about it. So, it's their choice to either adhere to it, or disregard it. Besides, do y'all really think any of these guys are gonna miss $5K with all the money they're making? That's chump change when you're making millions of dollars.
I thought this was football, not a Ms Manners siminar. It's just dumb. Especially when there's so many real infractions.
