I really doubt it's #3. I want to believe it is but I just don't see it. Which leaves something on the lines of #1 or #2. No offense to her as a person but that's pretty damned sad. After all the rules haven't changed yet. These are the very same rules she operated under in Cleavland. Shes been on the job for several weeks and couldn't figure out that releasing him would put us over the cap. It took some bean counter that works for the NFL less than 3 hours to figure out that it would. IMO Bill should be looking for her replacement.
Pay what you have to pay, get out of what you can, get a pick or player for him if you can, just get him off our team.
he was back on the team less than 2 hours after they cut him....how does anybody show interest in him when you can't pick him up until the 5th anyway...??
I dont see the point, big deal, he is still on the team for 2 more weeks, I dont think this got under his skin at all, I think he thinks they are just as stupid as he thought they were...
They had more than a week of Porter's media tantrums to look over the details so this seems unlikely. Maybe Porter re-tweaked his knee from all the floor stomping. Friday's events were a minor embarrassment that didn't sit very well if you're a fan of this team. However, it's hard to believe that the person who "remembered an obscure article in the CBA" as Peter King quoted (in his discussion of last year's Browns-Jets draft day trade) would forget what's probably the clearest set of circumstances (cutting a player) covered by that agreement. Parcells? Diabolical? It's not like he'd have the whole world believing he was going to run the Falcons a day before agreeing to come to Miami...oh wait. This may be more a case of a bratty Porter getting a 'reality check' from Papa Parcells. "You want out, huh? I just sent the league office a release transaction for you. Oh, look here! They said you can't go until the new CBA year begins. Now shut up already!" Too much Porter jabber could wipe out any chance of a deal even if the odds are long. I'd like to offer a fourth possibility: 4) The league isn't sure how to handle cap numbers while the CBA is in limbo. Cap violations carry penalties like fines and lost draft picks but more likely they carry warnings of such actions. Friday was neither - just a denied request. It's like your bank ATM returning your card without a withdrawal vs. a bank hitting you with an overdraft fee. Porter's contract may be easy but what about the rest of the team's payroll? How difficult has it been to get a straight answer on the fate of Ronnie Brown, for instance? A lot of cap money is virtual and if the league is unclear about a number of those 'obscure articles' while facing an uncapped year, they may assume a maximum value for team payrolls for the next three weeks and leave it at that. We'd only know if another team tries to cut a high profile player before March and see if they have the same kind of outcome.
im gonna' say it was option #2 the broad dropped the ball and made another incompetent mistake there is no reason for her to be in the Phins front office i think the hiring was a joke so screw what is best for the team so long as it made ross look good as an equal oppurtunity employer
