Already went to each teams depth chart and wrote down depth guys I may target. I think I have a pretty good plan mapped out. Target top tier guys at QB and RB. 2nd tier guys at WR and TE. D/ST and Kicker I'm going to the Dolphins and Sturgis. With a back up D based on schedule.
If I were you I'd print it out and take it to the draft with you. CBS Sportsline fantasy leagues have a good one you can print. You want to be able to adjust if the guys you have targeted get taken. You may find yourself in a position having to draft guys you've never heard of and you'll want to know where they fall on depth charts.
All right Mr. Rotos, who do I plug in at WR2 week 1. I was thinking Torrey Smith but Im leaning towards TY vs. Oakland. WR is my only real weakness, but IMO RBs are what will win the league for you. I love my lineup. Starters: QB: Stafford RB1: Doug Martin RB2: Matt Forte WR1: Randall Cobb WR2: _______ TE: Gronkowski Flex: Frank Gore D:Cardinals K: Prater Bench: Tavon Austin TY Hilton Hakeem Nicks Torrey Smith EJ Manuel Cordarrelle Patterson Jermichael Finley (Probably starting til Gronk gets back) Fred Jackson
yes, 18 teams means some teams won't be doubling up on QBs or starting running backs so make sure to get your running backs first.... and load up on backs if you can b/c they'll be HOT trade commodity. Make sure you get your QB1 before they get gone. Nothing sucks worse than thinking you can get a quality starter later on only to fall on the trail end of a run on QBs where the GMs who already drafted one are now grabbing backups and you get stuck with Ponder. Get your QB1 early enough so that you still have time to get a QB2, otherwise you won't have one during your bye week. Find a backup QB whose bye week is early so that he can bring some trade value for any GM needing a starter during his QB1's bye week. Gronkowski could be a nice asset if he lasts till round 4. How soon will you know your draft position b/c that'll make a big difference in draft strategy. Provided you get your running back early, try and do as much drafting for value as possible b/c there will be a handful of GMs who won't get enough value and might be open to trades.
12 team ppr...definitely not as strong a crew as my other pay league but not chopped liver. The WR's and RBs were flying off the board early and yes GIK, I know I took Gronk in round 7. Couldnt resist RB is shallow but I definitely killed it at RB, TE and QB. QB: Stafford (68) Palmer (140) RB: McCoy (5) RB: MJD (20) WR: Andre Johnson (29) WR: Colston (44) WR: Shorts (92) Broyles (125) DHB (149) TE: Gronkowski (77) Finley (101) WR/RB/TE: Lamar Miller (53) K: Zuerlein (173) DEF: Houston (116) Miami (164)
Remember, 18 team league. Im not overly happy with my team, mostly because of my awful depth and having the giants at D/ST...but I like the top of my team. Kaepernick, SF QB David Wilson, NYG RB Matt Forte, Chi RB Victor Cruz, NYG WR Mike Wallace, Mia WR Jason Witten, Dal TE Giants D/ST D/ST Caleb Sturgis, Mia K Kendall Wright, Ten WR Q Martellus Bennett, CHI TE Santonio Holmes, NYJ WR Zac Stacy, StL RB Daniel Thomas, Mia RB Jermaine Gresham, Cin TE
Just imo I wouldnt bother with Gresham because his production will be stymied a bit by Eifert and hes not really a good fantasy TE anyway. Id rather you use that spot on backup RBs or wr's who could break out. Overall for an 18 team league its not bad. I dont know how the rest of the league turned out but it should be a top 6 team if it avoids injury.
Had my other draft last night. 10 team PPR, 0.25 pts/carry, only 4 pts per pass TD, and 2 pts for 100+ rushing/receiving and 300+ passing. QB- Luck (68), Roethlisberger (93) RB- Morris (8)... {I think he could be a top 3 scorer overall} RB- Lacy (28) WR- Cruz (33) WR- Wayne (48) WR- Wallace (73), Blackmon (108) TE- Graham (13), Brandon Myers (128) Flex- Ryan Matthews (53), Daryl Richardson (88) K- Gostkowski (133) DEF- St Louis (113), GB (148), Miami (153) *** Last year's leaders: RB- Peterson, 434 pts. QB- Brees 383, Rodgers 377, Newton 375 WR- CJ, 303 DEF- Bears, 332 K- Walsh, 167 ..... so running backs rule the league, DEF/ST has value, and QBs like Kaepernick, Newton, RG3, and Luck can be on par with Brady & Manning b/c of the pts for rushing attempts and reduced points for passing TDs. This was a odd draft and I got badly BK'd a few times. 10 of first 11 picks were RB so I had to take one in the 3rd and felt Lacy was the best option ahead of Murray, Wilson, and Miller. Could be a great pick in this league as he racks up 4th quarter carries during hefty Packers leads.
Third. For 18 teams that is great. Great at RB (starters anyway), Top 3 tight end and your WRs aren't terrible. Decent depth at RB with Daniel Thomas. Hell, I'd argue this team is better than that 10 team squad phinsational was trumpeting about on the last page...
so what to do , what to do, we had our draft last weekend, because that idiot really had to go on vacation this coming weekend, we do this for 17 years and he decides to go on a vacation on draft weekend...*******...but anyways, i drafted T.Y. Hilton, because I thought he would be the #2 Receiver for Indy, well it seems its Heyward-Bey now and rumors are the new OC Hamilton rather likes to play 2 TE´s sets than 3 WR´s Sets, thats a bummer, so would you still stick with Hilton or would look elsewhere ? i could drop and pick up the mentioned Heyward Bey, there is also Emanuel Sanders from the Steelers still available...scoring for WR goes 1 catch a point but only if its the 3rd catch, so the 3rd catch will be 3 points and one point for every catch afterwards, 0 points if he finishes with 2 catches, 1 points for 10 yards starting at 40 yards, TD 6 points Notable Free agents: Heyward Bey Sanders Justin Blackmon (4 Game suspension) Vincent Brown Malcolm Floyd Michael Floyd Josh Gordon (2 Game suspension) DeAndre Hopkins Golden Tate any move you would make or stay put ?
Do you have a link to the T.Y. Hilton rumor? I have a hard time believing he won't play a decent role in that passing game. A lot of good free agents in your WR pool. I'm assuming this must be a 10 team league. Michael and Malcolm Floyd can help you out right away. Josh Gordon and Blackmon should be real good too once they get off suspension.
it was on rotoworld via Indianapolis Star, you have to be a subscriber to read that article on their homepage though, but the info on the link was enough for me to get nervous http://www.rotoworld.com/recent/nfl/5093/darrius-heyward-bey
The DHB rumor is legit. Theyre citing his blocking as a big reason. Personally Ive been a believer in DHB since he had the decent year 2 years ago. If you can do decent in Oakland then theres hope you can be very good elsewhere. Oakland is where careers go to die at this point.
2 SOLID TE's you could trade one of them and somebody else and get a better RB (If Miller looks to be good) or WR...
Blackmon should be the top week-to-week performer on that list once he's on the field. Does your league include return yards?
My team: QB - Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill RB - Lamar Miller, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Mark Ingram, Denard Robinson WR - Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, Tavon Austin, Josh Gordon, Brandon Gibson TE - Vernon Davis, Kyle Rudolph Def - Bears K - Blair Walsh We get to start 2 WR, 1 TE, and 1 Flex (RB, WR, TE). I need to shop for a better RB. Thoughts?
I would try to get another RB since you don't even have an RB1. Keep Dez unless you can trade him for a top RB to a cowboy homer. I'd consider trading julio jones for a RB1.
I proposed a trade for Frank Gore. I'd get Gore, and give up Vernon Davis, Josh Gordon, and a 4th round pick in next year's draft. I doubt it'll get accepted, but it at least starts the wheels of negotiation.
Your RBs are starving. I'll be in a similar position in my league counting on a guy like Lamar Miller to be a #1. But if you find yourself in that position I think you have to take another really solid #2 RB to pair up with him. Like Reggie Bush, or one with upside and hope he busts out. Like an Eddie Lacy, Giovani Bernard, etc. I'm not so sure Benjarvis can fill that role for you. But maybe if Giovani disappoints.
10 team pay PPR league. I had the #2 pick. Peyton Manning QB - DEN Jamaal Charles RB - KC Reggie Bush RB - DET Jordy Nelson WR - GB Dez Bryant WR - DAL Reggie Wayne WR - IND Tony Gonzalez TE - ATL Flex - Brian Hartline WR - MIA Greg Zuerlein K - STL Cincinnati Bengals DEF Bench Sam Bradford QB - STL Ahmad Bradshaw RB - IND Ben Tate RB - HOU Tavon Austin WR - STL Josh Gordon WR - CLE I went with Bradford because of his week 9 matchup when Peyton has a bye.
So what do you guys think? 10 team Yahoo standard league. RB: Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones Drew, Benjarvus Green-Ellis, Mikel Leshoure QB: Matt Ryan, RG3 (10th Round steal, possible trade bait for either Ryan or RG3 depending on performance) WR: Julio Jones, Torrey Smith, Wes Welker, Kenny Britt, Kenbrell Thompkins (undrafted FA, starting for the Pats looking like Brady loves this kid) TE: Gronk (8th round steal hopefully), Brandon Myers (insurance pick for Gronk. Worth wasting a very late round pick for Gronk) D: Chicago (will pickup Miami as they went undrafted, probably after week 3) K: Matt Prater
Had 10th pick: QB- Big Ben, Ryan Tannehill RB- Alfred Morris, Darren McFadden WR- Calvin Johnson, Demaryus Thomas, Steve Smith, Mike Wallace, Michael Floyd TE- Rob Gronkowski, Tyler Eifert, Jordan Cameron K-Blair Walsh DEF-Miami Bench: Daniel Thomas, Stephen Hill, Percy Harvin, Alshon Jeffery, Mike Tolbert
How many WR do you start? PPR? If its a 2 WR with PPR Welker is always money, without ppr its an above average grade but not great since Welkers value is in a PPR format. IF its 3 WR your depth is average and starters are pretty good. Running back depth leaves a lot to be desired imo. BJGE is a plodder who is going to lose a lot of touches to Gio Bernanrd this year. By years end I full expect Bernard to be starting with BJGE stealing goalline carries or something to that effect. Leshoure isnt even Bush's primary backup (that would be Joique Bell who in PPR is a very nice player). IMo Miami D is a decent play week 1 as well even though Chicago is one of the few D's you dont really need to worry about matchups with (unless they play GB). I would look to move RG3 or Ryan sooner then later for a position upgrade at WR and RB. RG3 has more value since hes a running QB and they are typically the highest scoring
lol. Manning went early in round 3 in mine. Was a tough draft to snag value in. It played out to where the GM with the 5th pick was sitting pretty with a handful of players falling to him in the middle of a bunch of rounds.
I'm the only Phins fan in the league and Wallace went in the 4th. Defenses started going in the 9th but I still got the Bengals in the 12th.
If I knew my draft would go as tough as it did I would've followed my own advice of not taking Graham in the 2nd, especially not the early 2nd. I felt good heading into the draft about getting Bush in the 3rd (#28) and a top player in the 4th (#35) but that didn't go quite as planned. If I held out for Gronkowski like I originally planned I would've ended up with this rather than what's in parenthesis: QB- Luck RB- Morris RB- Forte (Lacy) WR- Cobb (Cruz)... league uses return yards at 20 per. WR- Wayne WR- Wallace TE- Gronk (Graham) Flex- Lacy (Ryan Matthews)
