Impressed with:
1. Tannehill - Throwing in tight windows and looked very much in command. Bad audible on one run, but a couple were very good changes. As one poster said last night in the Game Thread, his comp% was 80 last preseason. Is this what the offense is going to continue to look like, or are we just putting lipstick on a pig?
2. Stills - he looks so much different out there; circa Landry and Tannehill 2015. Contract year or not, I like it!
3. Foster - It's really night and day between he and Ajayi. Now I know what the coaches see. Very fluid. Quick decisions that will likely be right. Hands down the starter. On a side note: Damien Williams wants a job, too! Will be so interesting to see who the coaches keep in the backfield.
4. Tunsil - My excitement could not be contained when he was drafted, but I kept quiet because I wanted to see where his head was. Hopefully he doesn't get too comfortable and make some mistakes down the road. With that, I dare anyone to find a better lineman on the team. Heck, I dare anyone to find a better rookie lineman in the league! I came away very impressed last night. He's playing G for Christ's sake!
5. The defensive starters - Well, they can play a little football, and finally looked like a defense. Played with a little more intensity last night. I hope the Suh injury isn't serious. I still stand by my 'feast or famine' assessment of the secondary. I'd hate to be the coaches on cut day because some really solid players are going to get cut along this defensive line.
Not impressed with:
1. The offensive line's run-blocking - I get that Pouncey wasn't in there, but it's night and day with these guys when asked to run-block. I get why Foster is there now, and I get why we need him. Steen wouldn't be able to join the US Navy because he can't anchor.
2. Landry - we know what he can do, but he doesn't have to make the top-10 every reception. I think he's more worried about how good things will look on TV rather than just playing football (hence, the dropsies). He needs to get back to '15. I sure as hell hope he doesn't become a head case. He's showing signs of it. Like Lonely Island to Michael Bolton in the song 'Jack Sparrow': "I'm really gonna need you to focus up!"
3. Mario Williams - I honestly cannot think of one play he's made all preseason.
4. The backup QB situation - yeah, they're backups for a reason, but no one has really separated himself from the pack, including Matt Moore.
5. Secondary depth - I know Lippett is getting a looksie because of Xavien Howard's absence, but he looks EXACTLY like a 2nd year player who played wideout in college. We'll see how this unit pans out as a whole, but if a starter goes down during the season, I'll be worried.
