Agreed and looking back at the last healthy seasons they each played, Garrard was better than Manning. I for one would not be surprised if Garrard posts a 90+ rated season. I think his maturity and fit this offense are coming together at the right time. Unfortunately, I also wouldn't be surprised if Garrard had back problems that sidelined him. IMO it all comes down to his health. A healthy Garrard can easily be a top 10 performer this year, but back injuries are scary and unpredictable.

Only big disappointment so far is Clay. He showed so much promise and now he can't catch the ball. Really hope he gets his **** together.

 

I don't think there is anyone in sports entertainment who is more useless than Peter King, but the bit about him never having seen practices like that is nice.

I'm feeling good about Philbin's management skills. We haven't heard anything about the team overall having sloppy or chaotic or bad practices.

Last couple of days have actually been kind of sloppy (yesterday and today), from what I've hear in reports.

 

That one sentence where he notes David Garrard should be ahead of Peyton Manning...wow.

 

I'm pretty sure, JJ ran the Oklahoma drill with the Dolphins.

 

All players have bad practices. Especially young players.

 

He's just had a very rough TC so far. It's just more discouraging bc we have improved QB play in practice and this is when he contracts the dropsies.

 

Actually, until the last two days, the reports coming out of camp about Clay were quite good.

They were pretty close stat wise. My recollection from that time was that Garrard's biggest weakness was his tendency to take to many sacks and hurt his team. In an offense where he gets the ball out on time better that issue would be minimized. (A good offensive coach and the QB's maturity would also be big factors). I also believe that Miami's offensive talent and overall team could be better than that Jacksonville team, so that would help as well. Factor in a more limited Manning (Pennington-esque) and Garrard above Manning doesn't seem that surprising.

 

I have read more good things from TC than bad things.

 

Regardless of whether it's true or not, I think it's very surprising of Peter King to admit it's true. He strikes me as a guy that would side with Peyton when it comes to a Peyton versus David Garrard question...just as a matter of course.

 

Agreed. In my eyes, it is similar to Ireland picking a younger player vs. an older player if a competition between the two is even close. For most media types (especially King), I think if they were to watch a mega-superstar and a former semi-star perform equally, they'd choose the superstar 99/100. To me, him choosing Garrard over Manning means he was outperforming him pretty noticeably. Good news regardless.

Pretty much exactly how I read it.

 

We've all seen TC heroes who fall apart when the bullets start flying for real.

I maintain that Garrard is a better fit in this offense then MMoore, his mix of mobility and accurate passing fits what Philbin wants to do more closely.

MMoore really should be in SD or Oakland or Cinci.
