My over/under figure for the number of times Pouncey goes from practicing as a center to practicing as a guard to center to guard etc is 3 this preseason, 5 for the season.

I guess that Pouncey at LG has always been a possibility, and I don't mind O'Hare as a player, but dear God, the ressources we put and continue putting into the OL are just insane.

 

It would be one thing if we ended up with a great OL, but we don't.

The Jerry pick looks more horrible now then it did on draft day and if Pouncey is playing LG then that pick was ridiculous as well. The only reason Pouncey made any sense in the first round was to play center.

 

Personally I'll be upset if Pouncey is moved to Guard.

You draft a prospect as a Center which is the QB of the O Line and calls for special talents that no other position on the line does then he needs to stay there and develop. How long has it been since we've had a top Center? Are you telling me we drafted a Guard project player in the mid 1st round? BPK is probably correct......... unfortunately. Pouncey will be moved back and forth and it will inhibit his development.

 

O'Hara was scheduled to make like 3.5mil for the Giants this season before they cut him. He wasn't willing to rework his deal either. Wonder what kind of money we'd have to give him to sign?

 

I find it surprising that Miami hasn't looked into Olin Kreutz. If they were really interested in putting Pouncey at guard, I would assume they would be chasing him.

 

I really think that They will keep Pouncey at center. It's where he needs to be. I have no problem bringing O'Hara in to fill a guard spot and mentor Pouncey. That would be the best situation. Then you can put Incognito at the other guard spot.

 

The reports so far have had Pouncey at C, not at G....remember O'Hara can play G as well. I'd like to see Ritchie back at RG, his best spot with Pouncey at C...it certainly appears they are unhappy with Jerry so O'Hara, if he'll play G might make sense...'

I gotta also think that Garner needs to be our swing T, cause if Long or Carey have injuries, we are weak at the T spots...

Forget O'Hara. I'd rather see Pouncey play at center and Brian Waters come in at guard for a one to two year stopgap.

 

I'd love to see us bring in Leonard Davis and Brian Waters... see what they have left in the tank.

 

I think Pouncey will stay at center for a while, Sparano's gonna give him a chance..we'll see if he has enough time to get the offense down, if not, move him over to guard let O'hara play center.

As opposed to what they have done, which is spend two seconds (one on a non-traditional style QB) and no sizeable Free agents (please don't count Moore).

If we swapped the resources we've spent on those areas, I think we'd be better off today. A weaker Oline? Maybe. Two seconds is nothing to sneeze at for selecting guards. Our weak spot would have been LT.

Just a thought.

 

Now that I think about it, I think O'Hara would play Right Guard while Pouncey stayed at Center.

Awful conspicuous surrounding a rookie Center with two consummate veteran Guards that have played Center, isn't it?

Not a coincidence, they (Incognito and O'Hara) are going to A) Teach Pouncey to make the line calls, B) Make the line calls for him, or C) Both.

 

Moving Pouncey to LG would be baffling.

That's another reason I'd wonder why the interest in a veteran Pro Bowl C, rather than one of those guards. Gugs has recent history with O'Hara, and Tony knows him from 2000 with the Browns, but Tony has recent history with Davis too. So if you want a guard why not Davis, if the plan is to leave Pouncey at C?

 

This makes perfect sense to me and would probably yield a fairly good line for the year. I think I would try sign O'Hara to a single year though.

I think it's because they want O'Hara to make the calls. He's said before I think when they drafted Pouncey that the Center doesn't have to make the calls. Incognito's experience at Center and making the calls doesn't compare with O'Hara's. This could be viewed by them as an opportunity to add Shaun's eyes and experience to the line while still getting Pouncey's youth and legs at the swing position.

 

What makes sense to me is if you sign a center who made the Pro Bowl the last 3 seasons at center, you play him at center. Also the position he considers his natural position. You put the rookie at the position he played much more of in college, guard.

 

CK, right on target .... the question is Pouncey's ability to make line calls -- he didn't get the benefit of any OTCs or even a playbook, much less lining up in front of a defense to make the blocking calls. Pouncey is talented - and surely seems to have the physical talent to be our C ... the question is - can he make the calls. Richie helps .... but he isn't a life long C. Berger can help as well ... but if we bring in a C/G -- then Berger will surely be cut.

I read as others that Kreutz is 'considering' retirement ... but if given a reasonable deal - i'm pretty sure we could sign him for 2 years. Now that would be a mentor for Pouncey!

I'd be pretty satisfied with a Long, Pouncey, Kreutz, Incognito, Carey starting OL for the next 2 years .....

I hear where you're coming from and there is merit, however since I don't believe we are seriously in contention for anything this year I would like to see Puncey get real experience at the position he was drafted for. That being said it's all out the window if he proves incapable of filling the center position.

 

Why would we need 7 quarterbacks?
