No surprise a 6'7 350 pd tackle is exactly what they look for in an OL. Hoping Qs makes it, but suspect he won't, still heading to Orlando for a youth football gig.
Guys have to pass through waivers unclaimed first, then they field practice squad offers, and then sign wherever they feel is best for them or where they even have an offer, it is sort of like a mini free agency.
The majority of the time, players who go on a PS will do it with the team that just recently waived them. Not always, but more often than not. Let us hope Livas and Spears are two of the names. I'm pretty sure Chisolm will be too. Either Devlin or Froman. Perhaps both?
I'd suspect just one developmental Qb Mr C, you need at least one to do stuff at practices. And the ps has sort of bloomed into a cottage industry with some players being offered deals equal to the contract they would get as a 1 yr Vet minimum deal, so one never knows. And Humpty Geathers made the Cowpokes Roster
They should be able to get Chisolm onto the practice squad considering that he just recently passed his physical and hasn't played any during the preseason. Garrett has some ability, and it will not surprise me to see him on the 53 man roster at some point this season when he proves his health. Also, DJ Jones isn't 6'7", 350 lbs. He's a shade over 6'5", and is around 310 lbs. The guys running the Dolphins at this time typically don't look for fat offensive linemen. They look for big framed offensive linemen. They love guys who are in that 6'5" to 6'7" range and are in the 300-320 lbs range.
Reason I said maybe both is because only 2 on the roster and we usually carry 3 plus a ps QB. I read somewhere that Practice Squad contracts were at a fixed rate. You got a link that says otherwise?
http://www.thephinsider.com/2011/9/...uad-rules-and-miami-dolphins-players-eligible http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scout_team There are others but that sort of is the point I was making, some teams pay extra to keep guys.
Alrighty, for the real hardcore the PS should have it's initial configuration by 2 pm tomorrow as that is when practice begins.
I don't think he can officially be on the practice squad yet. But I'm sure they told him they'll put him there if he clears, which sounds like it's the case.
BenVolinPBP Based on their tweets, it looks like CB Vince Agnew and OL DJ Jones are on the #Dolphins practice squad...... For now
That would be 2, and in keeping with what they usually do, now I expect Brett Brackett to be added along with Devlin, the remaining 4 slots could be anyone.
Normally they keep 1-3 Wr's on the ps as well, but with 6 on the active, more then 1 on the ps does not make a whole lot of sense.
I read that 16 teams kept only 2 QBs so lots more teams than before gonna be looking for a PS eligible QB.
Its almost a certainty that a QB will be on the practice squad. If Devlin does not clear waivers then Froman .
Whoa, whoah, whoah...Doesn't the new collective bargaining agreement give a total of 90+ roster spots including practice squad?
Here's a 3rd member of the squad. No idea why Livas won't be on the practice squad. Bad move all the way around. This regime have been searching and sifting through all kinds of return men since they arrived, all those small school, small players they keep comparing to Dave Meggett. That record breaking QB from Georgia Southern, Chris Williams, the return guy we picked up from the Buccaneers. It's just ironic that they finally found a guy in that mold that was worth keeping and they're just completely getting rid of him...after giving him 100% of the returns duty in Weeks 3 and 4 of the preseason, thereby not giving the guys that will perform the duties in the regular season any reps to get ready. Truly baffling.
Quinton Spears was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns. They're already thanking us for Titus Brown, who evidently has been killing it for them at MLB during training camp and preseason, and they did well with Matt Roth.
Yeah, you could see that one coming, Livas made it through waivers, let's see if the drop a chit on him for the ps.
Come on now, Titus Brown was cut yrs ago and has traveled all over the football landscape before landing there, he could have easily been Joe Toledo.
According to Miami Dolphins Bandits on Facebook. The Dolphins have told Livas they will not be offering him a spot on their practice squad. Take it for what its worth but they saw it somewhere
After cutting Restelli Sparano needs to get back into the good graces if he wants the full course lasagna deal when he goes home to New Haven.
WTF do I know? WTF do any of us know? We are just the ignorant fans. They are the professionals, the paid experts...for 4-5 more months anyway.
Bengals claimed...Mickey Shuler Jr, that is two of our cuts, Ness was told he would probably be claimed as well.
Trowa you a-hole... Misled all this time you careless prankster. I feel like that stupid girl who was told to go to the mechanic and ask for a flux capacitor. I spit on your ancestor's haircuts...
