NE Traded Logan Mankins for TE Tim Wright. No TE outside of Jimmy Grahm caught more TDs last 4 games of season. Supposedly Wright can really stretch the field. Hows this affect game 1 in your opinion. Not enough time to make a difference?
Pats magic, doesn't matter who they sign And when, players make important plays against Miami, never fails
To me this means the Cheater don't think Gronk's reliable week 1. This dude's reliable, but he's no Gronk (then again, with Brady, who knows). This is definitely our #1 weakness on D IMHO. Coyle knows the Pats though, and we played them tough twice last year, so I'm not too worried (we have the same LBs anyway...FWIW). Our biggest advantage in this game, IMHO, is the surprise factor. We haven't had it on these guys since the B.S.Cat, and we need to take full advantage week 1. They can't stop Clay, they can't stop our slot, they can maybe shutdown Wallace (even though I think we hit a bomb on Revis...Lazor's got the guts), Moreno could be a major difference maker...I see a LOT of points from us.
Does anybody besides me think Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Clay, Moreno together can be a nightmare for defenses?
Oh no doubt..and if we are running up tempo..good chance the NE D is gassed by 4th Qtr. Still..kinda scarey if you ask me.
Wright is a RUTGERS product. Bill likes them and wouldn't have made the trade if he felt it wasn't to his advantage. Bright kid who will pick up their system quickly. More than likely will see the field against us week 1.
So does this mean Belicheat thinks he has some good rookie linemen? Wasn't Mankins their best O lineman? Pressure up the gut on Brady.
Honestly I would've liked Wright in aqua and orange, though I guess we have a logjam at TE/slot guys. Still wouldn't have minded Hickey going after a guy they found as an UDFA. Nice player. 54rec at 10.6yds/catch with 5 scores...again as an undrafted rookie. Nice mismatch piece. Surprised he didn't catch on with Lovie Smith's regime there. Gotta say this whole Gronk injury and Hernandez prison situation did work out for us. We were looking at a loooong time of getting killed by that duo. No complaints on how that turned out.
It's a solid group...but they don't have enough run-after-catch ability to be considered a nightmare, imo. Clay is a mismatch guy of sorts, but he's not a proven consistent seam threat yet to be considered an elite mismatch type that can beat you deep middle as a primary TE. And I mean, Mike Wallace was brutal last season.
I'm simply glad the offensive line is straightened out, they looked solid in pass pro this preseason Think Moreno gives us a proven Rb, something Thomas and Miller do not offer Think the Defense is well sorted out, the patsies will score points but won't be a calculator going wild Think we need to get that FG kicker situation straightened out or they could go down with Ray Lewis and Gene Steratore in Dolfans lore as someone we spit at when their name comes up
Ya he was...but he still brings a big threat that has to be considered, whether he catches them or not, so he still stretches the field and makes 'em work. I wouldn't mind seeing Williams on the right side here and there...I think he can handle it.
Brady is very sharp, we must disrupt timing with the receivers, and pressure the Qb, their small at receiver.
I really do believe Dennis Hickey was keeping tabs on Wright, who was struggling this training camp and preseason with the Bucs and looked like he might get cut.
So... Does Logan Mankind suck now? Seriously? Has he had a bad few years or something? If he still has gas in the tank, this trade is ******ed... A 220 lbs TE? Bill Belichick is a god awful personnel man... He's lucky to have Brady.
Good thing they got rid of their all pro LG that PFF was just raving about..lol Facing us gm #1 they peddle a solid vet G, us with odie and starks and mitchel Either they are very very confident or Belicheat has officially suffered a crash in his Napoleon Complex personna
Marcus Cannon, Ryan Wendell, and Jordan Devey are the Patriots LG options. Starks/Odrick might be having some fun game 1.
Over/Under on number of bogus pass interference penalties called when a DB cuts underneath Gronk, doesn't even touch him, and nearly picks off a pass?
Wright at 220 pounds was a WR coming out of Rutgers. Was moved to TE last season as a rookie..catching 54 balls. Only 5 other TEs have ever caught that many balls their rookie season..and that was Mike Glennon throwing him the ball. Wright will play the flex TE spot..while Gronk is inline. This is how they used Hernandez. Trust me..Belichick doesnt trade a guard like Mankins unless he believes Wright is gonna make an impact. I think this definitley makes the Pats offense more potent then it already was to begin with. Wright has 4.65 speed..at a TE thats good..
Best lineman got traded? Won't matter who Brady's throwing to, he better prepare his anus for the Vernon/Wake train.
It's what they do, when they have a young guy that they feel is competent, and the older guy is due for his contract, they plug.
pre game thoughts: **** new england **** the jets too in case anyone forgot. and oh yeah sadly **** thad lewis. thad lewis? **** thad lewis.
I'll be relieved when he's not in our division for sure, we should practice squad him as a safety measure.
We do that and somehow Thad Lewis will throw a ball ..hit Ryan Tannehill in the eye, and we loose him for the season. Can we just send him to another sport altogether..like....MMA...have him fight Rhonda Rousey....
Hell when Gibby was in early last year we saw a little taste. Really hope he stays healthy. Plus as DJ mentioned Landry and Mathews. Should have some nice mismatches the year. In angry DL voice: "HEY #12...BEND OVER!!!!"
Oh he will. As soon as the edge rushers begin their stunt moves to the inside. And they'll get inside alright... Sent from my LG-MS770 using Tapatalk
