Both are interesting players to try to around for next year. I'd actually sign them both and work them into the LT and RT spots respectively. When Carey gets back move him to guard.

Well, ten days off should help Carey recover, but to me, the more ominous thing is both are Tackles, which means if they show something maybe Jake goes on IR and they backup Murtha, or one of them does.

That's a little bit non-sensical I doubt it gets that bad. I would start either of these guys over Murtha though, Jones at LG, perhaps Ugoh at LG if anything. Always thought he could be a LG with his athletic ability, but he just never had the skill at LT. LG I'd say is the easiest offensive line position to excel at especially for an athletic player.

Of the two, Jones would be the better signing for right now, but Ugoh could stick into next season if he shows well enough this yr.
And are either in game shape? TC closed almost 3 months ago, neither has played a down this season.
Another Guy Imho they should look at is Howard Johnson whom the cardinals cut. -

Jones was a top pass protector, but injuries slowed him terribly. Right now I have no idea how well he'll play. Better than Murtha...
Ugoh looks like a LT, moves like a LT, has solid strength for a guy only weighing 305 or so. His instincts are poor though. From my understanding he would be Indy's LG last year had he not gotten injured a while back. Probably more talented than Richie. Lot of work to be done with the OL, fixing it, perhaps moving players around and what not. -
Ugoh was drafted in 07 Adamp, he is not some fossil, if you were going to IR Jake Long, and be forced to start Murtha, having some Vet options in camp to at least learn the calls and get into some semblance of shape makes sense.
And I bet they move fast, they take the one shows the most right now skill, cram the line calls into them in Davie over the 9 day break and hope that it works.. -
Levi Jones? Ugh. Here’s hoping for Ugoh. I’d like to see him make it at LG. Always thought LT was a strange position for him.

Look at it this way, sign either one, IR Big Jake, Start Murtha v the Raiders and whomever sticks, Ugoh or Jones or whomever has nearly 3 weeks to get up to speed if Murtha flames out.
Jaj, for me this stuff is addictive, some people like offense or defense I like trying to think along with the GM. -
i didnt mean age, i meant since noone has picked them up they are in essence reclamation projects. I thought we would go with rawer players who havent bottomed out. thats what i meant. i was thinking adrian jones if he hasnt been resigned by someone but he was a guard and like you said these seem to be tackles they are seeking though ugoh could play guard

In this case, these are (or would be if signed, Irish is likely to have tons of players moving through Davie before Tuesday) they are insurance policies, not starters per se, Lydon Murtha or McQ would play LT vs the Raiders, but afterwards if they were terrible either Ugoh or Jones could then step in and play vs the Browns.

yeah i think you're right. probably the first batch of many we will bring in for a look. look forward to your updates over the next week padre. would like to see who we're scouting even if we dont sign them

not sure if we have an oline coach that can outcoach mudd. what do you think of our oline coach padre? i'm very disappointed in the run blocking this season. i'm not sure he's the guy i want to go forward with into 2011. do we look for a new oline coach?

Well, Ugoh strikes me as a player that the Staff in Indy lost patience with, found a replacement for, then tried a position switch, when he broke his toe they just Matt Roth'd him, they could have easily kept him on the IR all season (he did cost a #1 and #2 pick) but decided to jettison him instead.
As for whether they can coach him up or not, Gugs is not having a great time of it in Miami after a stellar stint with the Gmen, however I do think they can get something out of him, heck they managed to get something out of McQ and Proctor.
That said, I suspect what Irish does is to bring in a older vet and a young player with talent, they compare the two side by side, then make a choice, how much weight is given to the young player sticking around next season is a real wildcard, they added Ikaika Francis in 09 right around this time and just stuck him on the inactive list the rest of the year. -

Well have to give Feinga credit, a concussion, shattered finger, PED suspension, dude has had a eventful and tough season so far, not sure how well he can play guard, but he certainly seems to have the intangiables.
Mike B goes on to say that nothing is close with Levi Jones, but speculates that the same holds true for Ugoh. -
