Here was the production from a year ago: Wallace - 862 yards, 10 TDs Landry - 758 yards, 5 TDs Hartline - 474 yards, 2 TDs Gibson - 295 yards, 1 TD Matthews - 135 yards, 2 TDs Clay - 605 yards, 3 TDs Sims - 284 yards, 2 TDs Miller - 275 yards, 1 TD Williams - 187 yards, 1 TD Tannehill - 4,045 yards, 27 TDs Here are my rough estimates with a healthy roster going into 2015: Landry - 950 yards, 6 TDs Parker - 1050 yards, 6 TDs Stills - 550 yards, 3 TDs Jennings - 350 yards, 4 TDs Matthews - 100 yards, 0 TDs Cameron - 700 yards, 7 TDs Sims - 300 yards, 2 TDs Miller - 250 yards, 2 TDs Williams - 200 yards, 2 TDs Tannehill - 4,450 yards, 32 TDs How do you guys feel at this point? Anything stand out to you?
I don't think Parker is our top producer in yardage or TD's this year between the injury and being a rookie and I am totally fine w/ that. There really is a lot of talented receivers on this team. Excited to see what Ayaji offers in that department as well. Hopefully Miller has worked on that aspect of his game as well.
I'm just trying to put all the expectations into one picture. I think Lazor is going to feature Parker quite a bit if Parker is healthy. He's a 1st round pick who is enormous, will catch anything thrown at him and can create after the catch. That's exactly what this offense wants. Same thing for Cameron. He's going to get a ton of looks. I think Cameron and Parker are the biggest red zone weapons so I see the TD passes primarily going to those guys with a few going to Landry, Jennings and Stills here and there. Over the long run, I definitely think Parker will produce more in the way of TDs than Landry. I really find it hard to believe that wouldn't happen considering their positions and their physical attributes. I kept them equal this year because yes, I think Landry will improve and yes, I understand Parker is a rookie.
I like the fact you put down your predictions like that. Predictions are a good way of testing how good people's intuitions are, so we need to revisit this at the end of the season. Anyway, I think many of your estimates mostly jibe with mine, but one place I really disagree is Parker's production. I do not think he will get 1000 yards in 2015, though the 6 TD's are a possibility. I think he will be eased into the lineup, limiting his yards, but by the second half of the season will be a starter. I'm thinking he's more like 800 yards 5 TD's. I also think Landry will break 1000. The guy's going to benefit with the new, more varied supporting cast, and he is integral to our offense on every down.
So put down some damn predictions! Seriously though, this is just an informal way for people to express how they view the talent. This is before training camp and pre-season so it's meaningless. I just want to see how people view the production right now. So, guys, please, this is about sharing how we imagine things going down so feel free to take mine and modify them. This isn't about holding a gun to someone's head, it's about being a little more formal in expressing how we think the team will improve.
Maybe I should have factored in Parker's recent surgery. I honestly didn't. Maybe flip Landry and Parker's yardage, idk. Apparently I have a bet with DJ so I have to act like I'm really confident...which I'm totally not.
That's my thinking as well...maybe shave a little of the Parker numbers in favor of Landry, and shave a little of the Miller/Williams numbers in favor of Ajayi and that looks good.
Jets and Bills should be super fun to watch. Londoners should have a great game. Tough to underestimate any of our receivers. Stills could go off. Rishard could break out. I don't even want Cameron to play in preseason. Then you've still got Landry, Parker and Jennings... and Sims. Not to mention our backs. Ajayi in the passing game is worth watching early on. We're stupid with talent at all skill positions on offense.
I think it looks pretty good Greg, the hardest thing to figure out at this point is the which RB,TE,or WR is going to be the go to. With the talent that we have at our offensive playmaking positions, heck, even Tannehill might throw for 5,000......I think that we are going to be very fun to watch and I like all of them. Stills 700 yards - 5 TD's Landry 1000 yards - 5TD's Parker 1000 yards -8 TD 's Jennings 650 yards - 5 TD's Matthews - 500 yards - 4 TD's Cameron - 800 yards - 8 TD's Sims 300 yards - 3 TD 's Miller - 300 yards - 4 TD 's Ajayi - 400 yards - 4 TD's Sheesh..........this is hard to figure, or Tannehill is going to have a heck of a Season.....lol Yards - 5650 TD'S - 47
I can see any of those individually...all at once...I'll just say that's a "lofty" proposition...I like it though Anywhooz...I totally agree this bunch should be a joy to watch. No playoffs this year ( save an RT plus others major injury ) would be a massive disappointment for me. Can't wait...
My early guess: Stills 600 yards - 3 TD's Landry 1000 yards - 5 TD's Parker 650 yards - 10 TD 's Jennings 500 yards - 4 TD's Cameron - 650 yards - 7 TD's Sims 300 yards - 2 TD 's Miller - 300 yards - 1 TD 's Ajayi - 400 yards - 2 TD's
Maaaan ya'll are making me nervous these passing stats. Gimme 225 carries, 1060 yards, 9 TDs from Miller. 150 carries, 700 yards, 5 TDs from Ajayi and meet me in the playoffs. If Tannehill is throwing for a ton of yards then either the backs are hurt, the D is sucking, or both. Either way my confidence in a playoff berth will drop as Tannehill's attempts per game climb any higher than 30-32.
I hope Tanny doesn't have to throw a lot. I hope our backs have lots of carries and that Tanny is throwing the bar farther down the field. I don't mean he has to be dropping bombs all the time, just hitting intermediate yardage plays more. Hoping our receivers and backs can get more yards after the catch as well.
I just failed to mention Piston that our Offense is gonna also have 2300-2500 yards rushing.....We're going big...over 8,000 yards of offense....really though, I think we will have a really good offense and defense this year..I just also hope that our ST's are gonna be really good as well, which I think they will be.
I'm just curious what makes you think the STs will be really good this year? Not disagreeing or arguing, just curious how you see it.
Well, I think Lippett and Bobby Mac will be really good special Teamers, with a few of our UDFA LB's will also play good ST's along with the guys that are coming back to the unit, I think our coverage teams will be better, I also think Fields is back to his old form this year, but the one worry that I have is Sturgis...He has to improve on everything, his TB's, his FG %, and he will have to be money on the XP.
