Sophomore DT Kenny Clark of UCLA is really good. Reminds me a little of Ndamukong Suh, just a bit young and hasn't quite come into his own like Suh yet.
DE Frank Clark Michigan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuLnA1Ro5T4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiPL-UT3p1Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1W9NR9Eyh0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdCRA4c2fuQ Btw look at this guy in coverage starting at 1:05 in the first clip, UConn game. Edit: Summary: Frank Clark is a real interesting study. Without the elephant in the room, he is going in the Top 2 rounds for sure. With the elephant in the room, he may not get drafted at all. It is not something I want to cover at great length, but it is worth suggesting the news cycle of adding Greg Hardy and Frank Clark in a one-month or so span would be too much for the area to handle. That said, he would fit the profile perfectly for the type of player that Rod Marinelli is seeking and has some arguing on his behalf at Valley Ranch in the front office – an active, athletic, versatile, and disruptive player who can be another difficult assignment to block as you attempt to collapse the pocket. He is a very rare athlete who can vertically leap 38.5″ despite being a defensive linemen, and with his motor and his bullrush strength, some team is going to be willing to deal with the media uproar to get a piece that might really come at a bargain due to the baggage. http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/2015/03/2015-nfl-draft-profile-frank-clark-de-michigan.html/
I bet WVU CB Daryl Worley is going to be a kid to talk about in a few years. Nice battle with Amari Cooper.
Pre-draft, Mason learning to play center Former Georgia Tech guard Shaquille Mason is expanding his skillset prior to Tech’s pro day March 13. Mason, who is preparing for his audition in Johns Creek, has been practicing snaps and learning the center position to give the NFL scouts, executives and coaches who will attend Tech’s pro day something more to consider. http://georgiatech.blog.ajc.com/2015/02/27/pre-draft-mason-learning-to-play-center/
OT Danny Groulx (Canada) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvliF-d0GCc Big, strong, aggressive and his feet are pretty darned good.
Carl Davis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxzOO5eRuaY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zcu7Pcg84UQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Anc6rKlyIgA Personally I'm a buyer, he's a rock in the middle and has some pass rush ability. He has to find the on switch, permanently.
CB Lorenzo Doss Tulane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2STMxEvcto https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epHwLj8f4pU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6fa7_Q2CZQ Looks pretty solid to me, strong at the los, quick with good straight line speed, tenacious, plays the run well and good hands.
DE Preston Smith Mississipi St. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgnJjcG5Two https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1a6-82tbCQ
ILB Stephone Anthony Clemson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRcYu-RD68Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea_nFwgfIZo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMAuVFY19vE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfcJrtUPOjA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALOd7sSQebs This guy is just plain good, about 6-3, 245 lbs., strong against the run, flies around like Alec Ogletree, very active player. If we draft him, ILB problem solved. Big hands, 4.03 short shuttle, 4.56 40 yard dash at the combine. Has size, plays hard, measurables through the roof. I looked at GBN for an idea of where he's rated overall, they have him at #124, too low imo. 4th round would be a steal, he's a 3rd rd target imo and I'd love to get him there.
The fact Shaquille Mason is learning center suggests scouts have told him his chances as a guard with his frame are not that great. That puts him in project territory. But as a project, man I love him.
Stud. CBS' had him as a round 4 player as well. No way with those highlights, that size, and that extraordinary athleticism displayed at the Combine, plus a good Sr Bowl, does he last to the 4th. Doubt he makes it out of round 2. Not a perfect player but still) Charles Davis actually had him going to Green Bay at the end of round 1. He's got to to be on the radar for several teams - I bet he goes at worst by the end or round 2.
LT Donovan Smith Awfully light on his feet for a powerful guy checking in at 6-5 330 lbs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK8k3P7S2ag
DT Deon Simon Northwestern St. Prototypical size, sheds well, stuffs the run and has some pass rush ability https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuSA-8P4e9A
Legit 4.4 (flat) speed. High effort blocker. Has lapses in concentration but is reliable. Great combine, great tape. Good (not great) size. I'm a fan. If you want your 2nd round Green Bay-type of drafted receiver, here he is (though he'll probably go day 3). Little weak on the bench press but he can build that up.
DT JT Surratt South Carolina https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrFCy6-F5y8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcXoB3yHzPQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkHi6YFGFiI
ILB Zack Vigil Utah St. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvE7Lsac7s4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hClFlhinakU
WR Stefon Diggs Maryland Pretty electric player, has wheels, moves and cutting ability. Reminds me of Kenny Bell in terms of size, wheels, big play and kick return ability. I'm also wondering if signing TE Jordan Cameron who should see a lot of action wide of the LOS will take a bit of focus away from the Devante Parker/Jalen Strong types as per bigger WRs. Diggs, Bell, Tyler Lockett and Philip Dorsett are all on my radar. The one player imo that might transcend that coversation is DGB. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYxFESYGYvY
WR Chris Conley UGA I'm not a big fan of the workout warrior types, but Conley did have 2,000 yards and 20 Tds at UGA. His athletic ability is evident, and he's a good sized receiver at just about 6-2, 215 lbs. Smooth, fast with a big time burst evidenced by the 4.35 40 at the combine and the game film. Soft hands, too- the million dollar question is why didn't he dominate at the collegiate level? Maybe Georgia having a run heavy offense was a big factor in that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmPVipftmes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_eA53lqfGU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRpn4dKtt5w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=digjjnc3Sec https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0V58eL-irX8 I would draft this guy, and one of my big concerns would be his ability to beat the press. But the talent is there, seems like a good guy as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twZKbvwlXbQ
You guys ever go back and read some of your old s**t and come across a post that f***ing cracks yourself up b/c you're suddenly reading it for the first time as someone else would since you've completely forgotten that you wrote it?... almost as if you're reading someone else's quote? I just saw this one and I couldn't stop chuckling. This one made me chuckle as well. Anywho...
DT Marcus Hardison Arizona St. Interesting player, probably fast enough at 6-3 310 to play 3/4 DE, ran a 4.92 40 at his pro day, 4.65 short shuttle and 7.29 3 cone drill. Former high school QB who could reportedly throw the ball 80 yards, offers position flexibility and I could see him as a disruptive forced paired up in the middle with Suh. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijKPpycOhgE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOxNV_oVerQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9jeoIjBvD8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZeHruyooF0
WR Tony Lippett Michigan St. Lippett is a player that I want to like, but at the end of the day he's a WR who I think will have a hard time getting separation in the NFL, not fast or quick enough. He's a gamer and he certainly produced at MSU, but I don't see him as having more potential than Matt Hazel, which would make me want to draft an OL for depth in the later rounds instead of spend a pick on him. Kind of a bummer, because he's a player who I want to see succeed. http://draftbreakdown.com/video/tony-lippett-vs-oregon-2014/
WR Rashad Greene FSU I don't see a burner here, but I do see a gamer who produces like a maniac the last couple of years, and has a quality that sticks out to me- the ability to quickly accelerate with a burst. The thing is, it doesn't translate into true top end speed, but I really like the acceleration. He strikes me as a player who I'd take a closer look at, maybe a little reminicient of Nelson Agholor but not quite the top end wheels. Smaller frame, maybe more of a slot guy, not the big fast #1 that we're looking for. I like him, but maybe the role he'd play with us is already manned by Jarvis Landry. A good player nonethleless: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38vF4Ix7_A4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEhW6jDSZRw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMnT8JX-Z78 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Vmry7nr8fw
He has played some corner also, and some seem to think he may be better suited as a press corner in the NFL.
Hey Chris, I need an extra set of eyes. If Indy's Jonathan Newsome were in this year's draft and his prior character concerns were no longer an issue, where would you rank him both round-wise and in relation to the other pass rushers?
Bryce Petty If we draft a QB this is who I want. This kid can play. May end up being the best QB in the entire draft class in the end. Led Baylor to the Big 12 Championship after breaking 2 small bones in his back during the first game of the season. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...yce-petty-says-he-is-top-quarterback-in-draft http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/bryce-petty?id=2552369 http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...petty-might-have-the-best-arm-talent-in-draft
I covered a lot of ground on Jonathan Newsome a year ago, going back to early March or late February of 2014. Some of the observations I had about him in my posts: -"Explosive as hell." -"Cinder blocks for hands." -"Super duper violent player." -"Abnormal cutting ability and burst." -"Very instinctive angles. Instinctive in coverage." -"The best inside move in the draft aside from Jadeveon Clowney." -"I saw him challenge Morgan Moses in ways that even Vic Beasley didn't." -"Really unexciting stuff (from Combine measurement standpoint). But you want 11 of these types of players on your defense." -"He challenges the prototypes and notions of what is athletically acceptable in a way that few prospects do." -"Primary problems are ball awareness and tracking of option and horizontal stretch plays, which can absolutely be worked on." -"(Gives me) a mental erection." I got to arguing with some guy who thought Newsome had the look of a UDFA and thought he looked too raw, saying he wouldn't contribute for two years at least. I didn't see it that way: It's not surprising that Jonathan Newsome ended up with the highest Pass Rush Productivity score (an advanced statistic on PFF, not to be confused with a PFF "rating") of any rookie 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE this year. That is, among those with at least 100 pass rush snaps. As a matter of fact, Newsome had the highest rookie PRP of any 3-4 OLB since Aldon Smith in 2011. Newsome's was the second highest PRP any rookie 3-4 OLB has ever recorded since PFF began tracking in 2008. If you broaden that out to 4-3 DEs then Brandon Graham tied him in 2010 but that should hardly be surprising as Graham is literally the most efficient pass rusher PFF has on record. Well, if you consider Cameron Wake's 2009 season to be his "rookie" season (which it wasn't, he was with the Giants as a true rookie and then played professionally in Canada) then that's the highest PRP that PFF has ever recorded from a qualifying rookie. By country mile, too. But we know Wake is special. I just wish the coaches had recognized it as quickly as some of us did. I don't know if I can rate Newsome in this year's class. I generally have never been comfortable with that exercise. How do you value the bird in hand versus the bird in the bush? I know that if you were to tell me that Vic Beasley is going to go out there and have a rookie year like Jonathan Newsome had, I'd say hell yeah that shows you why he's a top 10 pick. Does that mean Newsome is worth a top 10 pick? I can't answer that. But he played like one. I mean if you ask the Texans whether they'd have had Jonathan Newsome or Jadeveon Clowney in 2014, I think it's pretty clear the answer is Newsome.
CK, has your opinion changed on Dres any? When I watched his tape yesterday with the music intro..He looked pretty good to me..looked great at Bubble Screens and screens in general, looks like he will go up for the football and fight for it..has good moves to get open for the different routes that they had him run..very good back shoulder receiver..? Crossing routes,outside,post,corner..He needs more polish for sure. Is he worth taking a fifth round flyer on him? Thank you for reviewing my question.
Well the thing to note about him from above is that he's a speed receiver. That's his game. The problem is, does he really have enough speed to be a speed receiver at the next level? Part of my evaluation process involves figuring out what kind of player a guy is and how he wins, and then going through some effort to figure out if he's got the pure ability to continue to be that at the next level. We don't know because he's injured but he might not have enough speed to continue being that kind of player at the next level.
Jeff Luc ILB Cinncinnati MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER IN THE DRAFT IMO. 135 tackles, 10 TFL, 6.5 sacks, 6 FF, 4 Fumble Recovery ,6 QB Hurry, 5 Pass Break up last year. Former 5 Star recruit from Treasure Coast, FL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eepWXJywEOs
Nice, very long compilation of scouting reports from behindthesteelcurtain.com http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.co...015-nfl-draft-big-board-by-ranking-late-march
Jeff actually had a head start on Ike, not bad for someone running with a guy who has been known to clock at 4.2 speed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xuu3GZX0kfE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhfFNRQN92c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDmCE3J6sfQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eepWXJywEOs Luc's charge this week will be to show that power -- which produces 500 pounds on the bench press and dents on opposing helmets -- doesn't come at the expense of his speed at an NFL level. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/spo...ff-luc-quentin-rollins-jordan-hicks/22167661/

Ex-’Dog Wichmann visits Chiefs, with Dolphins next Former Fresno State offensive guard Cody Wichmann met with the Kansas City Chiefs for eight hours Wednesday, undergoing what the lineman said were medical tests. Wichmann met with the Atlanta Falcons after a solid Fresno State Pro Day, and the All-Mountain West Conference first-team selection received more attention when the Chiefs came calling. He flew to Kansas City on Tuesday and met the coaching staff the next day. He also met with offensive line coaches for the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots after the pro day. Next up for Wichmann is a visit with the Miami Dolphins on April 17. Read more here: http://www.fresnobee.com/2015/04/11...high-receiver-deontay.html?rh=1#storylink=cpy
Wrist surgery could shelve top WR prospect … NFL.com is reporting that Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong will require surgery to repair a broken bone in his wrist. No word on how long he will be sidelined. Also no word on whether this will impact Strong’s final draft position as he ha been considered to be amid-to-late first round candidate. http://gbnreport.com/
Myles Jack-UCLA he just said he's staying all 4 years, as a UCLA fan I hope so but we'll see. May be a S/RB in the NFL
