Last year, we didn't expect to beat ANYONE, so that's an improvement in my book!

Yep. Even when it happens it's usually blown coverage, and the route itself is just designed to clear out the linebackers/safeties.

Welll...sort of...our Wr corps is a good metaphor for my point.

Ginn, Hagan, Camarillo, Bess, Wilford, you can't say they are terrible, you can't say they are good, they haven't played during the regular season.

Who knows if they will be good or a bad unit?

We see that at LB corps, Dline, Oline we just don't know what will happen.

And depth is one of those things that comes from odd guys playing, until they play, you don't know, but if they don't play, you don't know.

IMO, that is why Sparano and Tuna value snaps during practices, they have a heck of alot of faith in their ability to judge talent and even effort that can make up for talent....

Yes but not too many penalty yards. At least they kept it to the 5 yard variety that can be fixed with time.

We saw that last week too. Are we playing so excited we're making mistakes, or is it because we've got so many new players?

The penalties are the only negative from the first half.

Carey, Porter, Ginn, Hagan, Fasano, Long, Smiley, Grigsby, Pennington, Thomas are all brand spanking new starter in their positions this year Aqua.

Add in Ferguson, Langford, Roth, Ayodele, Goodman, Allen, Porter et al starting at new postions or first time starters for this team, and that is a small glimpse at the re organization that has happened.

BTW props out to Matty Roth, a fumble recovery, second or third week in a row he has hung out inside the passing pocket, Sparano and Tuna may be on to something here...

If Roth can play OLB, he can play ILB, and he can already play DE...Roth might be our most successful reclaimation project so far, he is starting to make plays all over the place.

    1st half thoughts?...
the D is getting after it. They're looking strong. If we continue with that quick pressure up front the DBs are going to look pretty stellar.
OL is looking good, if not a little uneven at times.
    Ricky looks great
Pennington looks like a pro QB (kind of strange to watch after sub par play at the position for so long)
    Ginn is looking great.
STs still needs to improve, though
And we need to do away with penalties

I'd quibble with that a bit Cnc, too many non aggressive penalties, you can live with a penalty from aggressiveness, a bone head though is another matter completely.

We may finally have the staff who can utilize each players skills to their fullest advantage instead of putting square pegs in round holes.

Yeah you and i talked about that last week, didn't we?
I hate the penalties. But at least they arent the procedural penalties by the OL we had so many of last year.

To be honest, I think Bess and Camarillo are so concerned with getting a jump on the snap to get open they are moving too soon, they are aware they have to get open and are a bit high strung about it right now.

Inexperience there...provided they stick, I would think they'll settle down as they gain experience, wouldn't you?

Defense hasn't had the same intensity coming out of the gates here in the second half.

It's one of those "trust the coaches" deals late again, those two are raw, but are they worth developing?

If the coaches don't think so, we will see them both cut....IMO they are the perfect compliments to Pennington, give them a chance to prove it.

Boy this is one of the loudest Dolphins crowds I've heard in a very long time...even the pay radio speakers were getting overloaded.

    Goal line stand baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Phins!

What a confidence builder that goal line stop is going to be.
