http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/04/10/firmware-v230-details-and-store-walkthrough/ New store set up and DTS-HD Master Audio Output.
But does it bitstream? Or does it decode everything at the PS3 and then down-mix it to multi channel PCM and send it to your receiver? Leaving you with something that still sounds better then normal DTS but something that is not DTS HD Master Audio. I will not buy a PS3 until it can bitstream at least Dolby True HD.
Its borderline pointless to decode this stuff at the player, and it pisses me off. I mean how hard can it be to ask a platform to do nothing other then read the code and send it to a receive? The only people that care about this stuff are audiophiles, and an audiophile is already going to have a good receiver to handle the audio decoding. We don't want it done at the player. We want you to let our receiver do what we bought it do, decode audio. After reading up a little it appears that's exactly what its going to do, decode it at the PS3 and then pass it to the receiver vie LPCM.
