Okay, at least Gase is doing SOMETHING that should get the players' attention. Jamil Douglas, Billy Turner, Dallas Thomas & Isaih Pead in one afternoon.

I'd rather put up 22 scrubs who are disciplined and play their guts out than the screw-ups starting for us now.

I thought this buddy-buddy approach wasn't going to work. Maybe now they'll realize he'll ask you a time or two nicely but the next time you're out the door.

AT LAST! I'll never understand how in the hell Dallas Thomas managed to stick around as long as he did.

This is really an ugly black eye for the evaluation process of this team, 3 days ago it was the opinion of this team that Turner and Thomas were the best back ups on the team, now, after months of evaluations keeping them rated that high, they are so bad they don't deserve to be on the team...?

Not that I disagree mind you, but it wasn't me that had them rated so high, it was them, how is it they are just realizing these guys suck?

Yeah, it's a good sign for sure. Lack of timely adjustments is the worst thing to see from a HC.

Still waiting for some "timely" adjustments to play calling and scheme though, especially on the defensive side.

Either way, I think it's good Gase is showing he's not Philbin 2.0 because realistically I don't expect Tannenbaum to be fired, but I can see Ross giving Gase more power. That will be especially important if we pick a QB high in the draft next year. I want Gase making that decision, not Tannenbaum, and anything Gase does during the season to show he's not incompetent is good news, so purge away!

They may still be the best backups. However I think the message is that certain things are expected of you even as a backup. If you are thrown vack into the QB every down....well anyone can do that. Goodbye and nect man up

BB wins each year with physically average players, but they are usually have above average intelligent, are hard nosed, and team players.

(HOw much his success has to do with his cheating I don't know.)

I disagree. I think these guys had the physical tools to succeed, but they bags of crap everywhere else. It's hard to judge a players mentality etc in one off season. Especially with how much the off season has softened.

If they just cut the 2 best back up OL they had for having a bad game, imo, that would be much worse.

I think the culture in Miami for olinemen is the worst. The element of vanity is kryptonite to the corn fed masses.

I documented the wussification of Jake Long years ago with a series of before/after shots that are now available on commemorative plates.

This makes a huge difference from the Philbin years.
In the Philbin years we got rid of performing players if they had the 'wrong attitude', but kept non-performers on the field. Which inexorably lead to the players behaving like their on field performance didn't matter. At the end of the day it didn't if you were one of Philhin's protected species (for some reason LB and OL in particular) But if you weren't one of the protected species it took injuries to get onto the field and you weren't rewarded if you did perform (Miller and Rishad Matthews for example).

This is a critical step to getting players to realize that they have to perform on the field, since benching starters didn't get the required attitude change.

It's far more than just having a bad game Sunday. If you notice, Gase put guys on notice a while back without mentioning any specific names. It's been obvious this year that our OL has contributed to our lack of offense. These guys were given a fresh start to prove themselves, and all they were able to prove is that they weren't good enough. Gase said he'd give them a chance, they couldn't take advantage of it. It's pretty simple really. They were called upon to improve, they were called upon to perform on Sunday, they didn't get the job done. On to someone who can. If you're not getting better as a player, why are they keeping you?
