Who is going to play quarterback for the Miami Dolphins?
This has been the question in most every Miami training camp since Dan Marino retired. Of the three options, veteran QB Josh McCown gives the Dolphins the best chance to win now. He has starting experience in Arizona and Oakland, but is also mistake-prone and hardly the future of the organization. Playing McCown wouldn't be worth the extra win or two he could give Miami because it still does not translate to a playoff berth. That means it should come down to second-year QB John Beck and rookie Chad Henne. Beck was drafted in 2007 as the future quarterback of the franchise, but that was by the previous personnel and coaching staff. He'll be given every chance to prove himself, but so far, Henne has looked the best in minicamps and OTAs. But playing a rookie has risks because history says he could get hit often and lose confidence. Still, this is a question Miami must answer early in camp to silence any controversy and allow the team to rally behind the player at the most important position on the field.

First thing I thought when I read that too. Second thing was how many times we here at ThePhins yell, "WHAT?!?!?!" when we read outsiders write about the state of the Dolphins.
bkbuffetNew MemberI seem to recall the very first camp report said that Henne looked the best, but fell off quite a bit after that one. I don't recall any reports saying specifically that Beck had any issues. To me, that is a good thing for Beck, as the media loves to point out the bad, but overlook the good (so they can point out the bad on someone else!).

Yeah, i thought I remembered reading that too. Henne started well, then faded a bit. of course its just in shirts and shorts.. so i guess its quite irrelevant. Now with TC around the corner it really heats up. I dont care who does better, I like Beck, I like Henne (GO BLUE!) I just hope one of them pans out for us. hopefully both! then we can use one as trade bait later down the road :up:

I think this does mean something because it showed us who has improved and who has to improve.
The first pre-season game? Why does it matter who starts the first one? I am sure that each of the QB's on the roster will start a game or have a shot in the pre-season.
