I know this is a pointless thing to to post but just let me vent. Why do Jets fans talk so much **** despite then fact that more than half the time they always get embarassed? If you go onto any Jets forum they will say we don't look very good and they are going to embarass us on National tv!! When will they learn to just shut their mouths?? Haven't they learned that every game they play against us comes with a nice heaping serving of humble pie!? (as if Rex Ryan needs more food to shove down his big slop hole of a mouth). The fact that Jets fans think that they are hot **** because they won 1 game pisses me off even though I am happy that they are being so cocky so when we mop the floor with them it will be that much sweeter. Like I said I just needed to vent because this is going to be a VERY long week for me as well as for most of you I would assume.
Does anyone have any explanation as to why Jets fans are so delusional??

Because the Jets are built on a Guarantee. In 1969 Namath guaranteed a super bowl win and it happened.
Since then they have been trying to replicate that, but have failed. And now they have nothing to lose since they've been tortured for so long.SeanP, HardKoreXXX, Frumundah Finnatic and 3 others like this. -
Wouldn't you be delusional if your team had won a Super Bowl with Joe Namath at the helm? And now they think they can win one with Mark Sanchize............:sidelol: -
They're New Yorkers, it's how they are raised to act. They can't help being boisterous and loud.

Every team has their share of obnoxious and dellusional fans. I, like most of the Jets fans I know, am very realistic about my team. If anything, I am very pessimistic and always look for the Same Old Jets to show up.
If you are a long time Dolphins fan, you should know that it doesn't matter how good or bad either team is, most Jets/Dolphins games can go either way. I've been going to the games since 1986 and I have seen it all, from the Marino/O'Brien shootouts, to the fake spike, to the Monday Night Miracle.
And I am not sure where you came up with the "every game we play against them comes with a serving of humble pie". You might want to look farther back than last year.
Here's to a good game on Sunday.SeanP, late again, huck1974 and 2 others like this. -
Aside from that it seems that most Jets fans I encounter think that they will beat the snot out of every single team they play (see, Baltimore). As well as crowning their team paper champions every year. It gets old very fast and you can't help but wonder when these people will learn to shut up.
It is always a breath of fresh to meet a Jets fan that you can have a civil conversation with and I hope you are who you say you are but my hate for the other type of Jets fans cannot be put into words... -
Maybe you are dealing with a younger generation of Jets fan. The ones that have been fans since the 80's or earlier have had the life sucked out of them and rarely beat their chest. I know I never do.SeanP and Phinatic425 like this. -

Anyways I am glad that you have joined the thePHINS it is always nice to see rivals on here, especially civil ones :knucks:. -
I joined thegangreen dot com...made a few posts (one predicting a loss to the Ravens ) There are some knowledgeable posters there, but a ton of younger "we can beat anyone!" types. Like I said. It's teh interweb. I expect nothing less. -

You didn't say "if we mop the floor with them" or even "if we beat them" You said "When we mop the floor with them". Is it delusional when someone else says it and just confidence when we say it?
Again I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just suggesting perspective here.gunn34 likes this. -
What I usually do when it comes to posting about the weeks upcoming game is make a few posts actually breaking down the game and giving my true opinion on it. Followed by a flurry of posts talking as much **** as I can. In this case I started out with the **** talking out of rage when I read what Jets fans are saying about us.
As I mentioned in my OP I knew that my post was pointless and that rivals smack talking is a given' but It's always good to get things off your chest .gunn34 and late again like this. -

With that said ..I do think we can mop the floor with them.Phinatic425 likes this. -
I am not trying to start an argument, but I think it wouldn't be a stretch to say that you will being facing a better defense than Minn or Buff....and you didn't exactly light those guys up. I can understand you feeling good about your defense against the Jets offense, but I wouldn't think it will be easy to roll up points on the Jets - and that is not because the Jets defense is a steel wall, but more of a combination of them being pretty good and the Miami offense being pretty average so far. I expect a very tough, low scoring game that could go either way. Wouldn't shock me if it came down to the last possession and a FG attempt.gunn34 likes this. -

As for the game vs the Jets I think that our defense will confuse Mark Sanchez thus resulting in turnovers. I also think that we have momentum winning 2 road games and it being our home opener on Sunday night. I feel like the Jets confidence is back up through the roof and they are not going to come into this game thinking that they have already won it.
I think that our offense can really break out if Henning takes his head out of his *** and let's Henne air it out to Marshall. Asides from that I think it will be a very close, defensive game in which the most disciplined team will win...which I truly believe is the Dolphins. -
So I feel slightly better about our chances at home against the Jets than I did on the road in buffalo against a lot of unknowns. -
-
My Uncle, and the two owners of the company I work for are Jets fans, all of which are very reasonable fans, with concerns, a light bit of smack talk, but more or less realistic.
Any fan I've ever seen at a bar, or anywhere for that matter has been the polar opposite. -
As far as your offense breaking out against the Jets, let's just say that I am as concerned about that as you are about the Jets offense breaking out against you guys  I am not saying it won't happen - they had a hard time with your offense in the first game Miami last year (but not the second). But when I look at the other two offenses the Jets have played: Flacco, Bouldin, Rice and Brady, Moss, Welker - I have to think that Miami's is not significantly better (in total) than either. But that is why you play the games. I think there would need to be some real fundemental breakdowns on either D for either team to score more than 17.
Since I am on your board, I will say 17 - 13, Miami. I am hoping for the opposite. -

Props to you for being a half reasonable visitor.
I don't think Sanchize or cheese or hot dog...will have any more time to throw the ball than Henne. I'm going to go out on a limb and say our Defense is better right now.
14-10 Dolphins with a Defensive stand to end the game. Rex cries and the says that we suck and you guys are going to the superbowl.
ESPN then says we are pretenders and we only won because your island was sick. Then they will move you up two spots and us down 3 in the power rankings. 48 hours later, everyone in New York.....cough.....New Jersey will declare you superbowl champions and there will be a parade. -

NY/NJ is still very much a Giants town. There are more Giants fans and they dominate the news with any sort of perceived success. It's like the Yankees and the Mets. No matter what the Mets do, this will always be a Yankees town.
I agree that this will be a defensive battle and both QB's will be pressured. Sanchez showed some nifty footwork last week. Maybe that buys him some time. I have heard that Henne has a hard time when the pocket collapses. True? -
-
I wouldn't trade QBs or defenses with you at this point. I would have said something different about the defense 2 weeks ago. -
So what I have to go on is the Minn game and I watched a good part of it. And the bottom line is that they only surrendered 10 points, which is very good on the road. But it's not like they completely shut them down like the Ravens did to the Jets. 364 net yards, 156 on the ground...I dunno.
I will be the first to admit that I think the Jets D is overrated. It came up short on a number of occasions last year when they needed a big stop. Their defense's success come from their schemes more that it comes from superior talent. So with that being said, I also think the jury is still out on the Miami D. I think it will be good, but not great. I'm interested in seeing them play against a high powered offense (which the Jets don't have). New England, even with no running game, should be a test. Green Bay certainly will be one as well.
