Say there's a youtube video I want to take a small clip from and use it. How would I go about doing that? Like I want to use only a small piece of the video and share it with friends or whatever. How do I do that?

Download the video as a flv file then you can convert it and cut it.

naw you can use firefox
then download the add on download helper.
If the file is youtube it should pick it up as a .flv file. Download it.
Then go to download.com and just search for a converter taht says it converts flv to whatever you want. -
Well that sounds like a pain in the ***. Thanks anyway lucky!

There is a website that downloads just the sound. I'm sure you could find a website that strips the video as well.

Just use either clipnabber.com or keepvid.com and download the MP4 version.
You can then edit your video to choose whatever section you want... most editing software should be able to important. It won't be able to import FLVs because flash is useless.
You may have to download the K-Lite codec pack, DivX codec, & Xvid codec for everything to work properly though... not many computers come stock with all the codecs necessary.Rocky Raccoon likes this. -
- Download/Install VLC Media Player (google it, it's free)
- Download/Install WinFF (google it, it's also free)
- Windows Movie Maker (should come with your installation of Windows; also "free")
- "C:\Users\--RockyRaccoon--\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache" Google cache folder directory
- If you're on Chrome, go into your chrome cache folder and look for it (it's in you cache folder which might be hidden).
If you can't spot it, reload the webpage (youtube video page) while keeping an eye on the cache folder (look for the file that keeps growing).
You can either change the extension to .flv or play it outright with VLC to verify.
- Now use WinFF to convert it to wmv.
This program is pretty simple to use once you start it.
- You can now use Windows Movie Maker to make any changes to the file and save it wmv.
Note: VLC seems to be able to do some conversions, but I still don't trust it. It can't handle a friggin wav to mp3 conversion for Pete's sake.Rocky Raccoon likes this. -

WinFF has gave the Production House I work at some virus issues in the past... That method works, but I'd be a little wary.
