my wife and i were robbed on friday night at a theme park. it was a couple that stole her purse. they were both booked for petty larceny.......anyways....i have recieved 2 calls today from the detention center they were in letting me know they made bond and were released today.
is that a normal procedure because we are the victims? or is it something more serious like a warning because they threatened us in jail or something? my wifes worried. and they both live within like 2-3 miles from us
so its something thats worrying us.
thanks!

Do the police where they were being held know you were threatened by these people?
I'm not sure if it's a normal procedure or not, but I would guess that it's abnormal to be on the safe side until you find out otherwise. -
no i wasnt threatened, iam asking if thats what that means.....that maybe they threatened us in prison to make them call and warn us they were released.
-
was this not a random crime? were they caught immediately? im not sure why they would tell you unless these people know who you are or if there is any procedural stuff left for you to do.
i dont really know though. is it necessarily bothering you? -
well i checked out their profiles and they live very close to me. so iam guessing thats why? just incase i dont run into them at walmart and iam like "wtf"

Sick, it is a cover their *** move, your wife's purse got stolen, in it was her wallet, I assuming, and in that is a license with an address to your residence.
It is usually a courtesy call on the detention center/atty generals office part that they do for victims. Usually the AG's office has a Dept. with the office handing such matters of victim advocacy. -
I received a call when my wife was released. My parents were the victims of CC fraud recently and were called when the guy who committed the crime was released. I think it's SOP.

I have not read the replies but I was a police officer/ detective for over 12 years.
Yes, it is not uncommon for the agency who is investigating the alleged offense to keep the witnesses up to date.
For the record, if the purse was taken in close proximity to the victim, the charging agency should have charged Robbery as the primary offense.Big E, opfinistic and SICK like this. -

Actually it is fairly common for victim's of crimes to be notified. In the agency that I work for, victims used to receive a phone call that would let them know about the change of status. I would not worry about any threats that were/were not made regarding you and your wife. Alot of the notification procedures will vary depending on the agency though.
