Tearing the CFL up Dante Hall style
Rakeem Cato was benched
Quietly Zach Collaros, has developed into an outstanding Qb

Rakeem Cato wasn't benched.
He started hot in Week 10 against Hamilton throwing a TD and getting some big plays, but then took a hip injury. His backup Tanner Marsh managed to hang on for the win.
Then Week 11 he practiced a day and was scheduled to see a doctor about the hip, but then a family emergency came up and he had to fly immediately to Miami. Initially they thought he might be back in time to serve as the backup for Thursday nights game (you can't be the starter if you don't practice all week) but he ended up needing to stay down in Miami through the weekend and is scheduled to come back after the bye this weekend. -
Evidently the family emergency involves a car accident and something about this being a very emotional and difficult time for Rakeem right now. Hope everything is OK for him. He's still not back in Montreal.

He's become a nice CFL phenom. Doesn't quite show the positional or physical skills of some but they have him enjoying great success up there.

Something tragic happened in Miami but Cato won't say. He's couching it in terms of the tragedy he has been thru in his life already, how he hates to say but he almost expects it at this point, and football continues to be his escape. He said his blood relative, won't say who, got in a car wreck. Won't say if they're alive or dead. The language he's using makes it sound like a death in the family. But he hasn't been completely cooperative with the Alouettes which isn't good. Sometimes they haven't been able to get hold of him, talked to family members instead. He was back at practice today but he wasn't there Wednesday and they had expected him back.
That could cost him the job if Jonathon Crompton gets hot and beats Winnipeg. They're 4-6 and looking to get to the win column. They're desperate enough to ride the hot hand.Fin4Ever likes this. -

Cato was injured and the Als traded for a Qb.
Guy who made the jump this year:
CFL has not sent a starting Qb to the NFL since Jeff Garcia, BC is starting a young Qb named Jonathon Jennings, and he is Jeff Tedford's SystemItsdahumidity and Silverphin like this. -
Names to keep in mind:
Tristan Okpalaugo (recall he was in Miami in 2013) DE
Freddie Bishop III DE
Akwasi Owusu-Ansah Cb
Johnny Adams CbItsdahumidity likes this. -
Two Wr's tearing it up in the CFL should have familiar names:
-Tori Gurley
-BJ Cunningham
Austin Collie also has had a resurgence in BC -

-
Terrel Sinkfield and Emmanuel Davis have workout scheduled, as do Courtney Stephens (Db) and Erik Harris (lb)
All fmr Ticats
And the one Qb who is slowly building a good resume, and is quite young is Bo Levi MitchellItsdahumidity likes this. -
And there is Freddie Bishop, he'll make the rounds, atm front offices are working out their post season practice squads and camp invitees.
Think the "new' gold in CFL to NFL types will be Cb's, if you can cover a Wr who has a running start prior to the snap, you probably can play in the NFL.
Delvin Breaux had a fine first yr in NoLa -
Interestingly the #2 player in the NFL in ST tackles is the Texans Brian Peters, the other area clubs mine for CFL to NFL talent

Great resource of players moving from the CFL to the NFL

Think Okpalaugo will do well in the league, think the Jest got a steal in Fred Bishop -
