Not to mention, George for all his shortcomings did a tremendous amount to help players in their times of need. Doc Gooden, Daryl Strawberry, and many other went through tough times in pinstripes and Steinbrenner played a role in trying to get them on the right track. It would have been easy to dump a player when his value is down but he stuck by them and humanity has to count for something. :wink2:

Pads when in Rome, do as they do, you can be soft and run a NY based company or any company for that matter....but not at the end, he knew his time was coming I believe, and he loosen the grip.....

Your second part is right, with the guys getting older, how much longer can they go?? However with Cashman running the helm players op wise, no stupid trade will be made involving young talent, and the money isnt a problem, they will be okay...If they tank so be it, I have seen many many great games and have so many memories to last me a lifetime, 5 WS titles is a great lifetime, I am not greedy......we arent done yet though:up:

And as George often said, if more than two people know about it, you are doing it for all the wrong reasons.

    sums him up....

P.S. whats wild is that he was the same age I am now, when he took over the Yanks. And for the next 37 years his reign saw 21 of those years in the postseason, 11 World Series trips, 7 Championships.

I am really glad his two sons guided for all intents and purposes the run last year and are prepped to run it for many years to come without much turmoil or confusion going forward picking up where The Boss left off (very fitting that he died a Champion).
