......But yet here we are with a 0-3 record. Isn't their a saying that the key to winning is stopping the run and running the ball successfully? If that is a saying then it shouldn't be used because right now Miami is proving whoever said wrong.
As a rushing offense we are averaging 167.5 yards a game and only allowing 64.5 a game. I know most will likely point out the fact we are so bad defending the pass teams don't run the ball therefore making the stat very misleading.
How does a team with stats like this manage to start 0-3 bad playcalling aside?

It just seems that we can't stop the pass, the offensive playcalling is atrocious and we don't have a big play receiver to change the game or keep the defense honest. Truthfully, I think it speaks highly of our offensive line and Ronnie and Ricky that the running game has been so successful.
I think this team will play much better than they have been, even today we should have gotten 3 more td's than we had but that's football. The only thing that has thoroughly annoyed me through the first 3 games is our offensive playcalling.jetssuck likes this. -
Thus far, Pennington hasn't been much more of a red zone threat than Ginn has...Personally I would remove Ginn once we get in the red zone. He's pretty much useless there. There's no room to out run anyone and most the of plays will involve some kind of contact or extra effort needed.
I think with Henne in there we'll have more scoring opportunities......it's just a matter of how well he learns to protect the football. -
Personally, I don't think Henne will provide any extra yards that Penny couldn't get. If our coaches won't call for the deep play and our wr's can't hold on to the ball it doesn't really matter who's throwing. Besides, Pennington has been throwing the ball deep in these first 3 games, Henning just isn't calling for them.

the is one missing piece to that puzzle ... scoring points ... if we were scoring 21+ points a game, and maintaining those stats - our record would be different ...
our secondary will get better as the season progresses .... especially when Clemons hits the field ... our LBs -- well we can do nothing about that cunundrum this year ...
additionally, we are woeful in the turnover ratio ...
keep our run stats
score 21+ a game
win the turnover battle
and i guarantee we'll win more than we lose ... -
why was clemons inactive?

it seems as if we rely too much on the run at times and on the defensive side of things, other teams are passing at will against us when we shut down their run...so there needs to be a more balanced attack on offense and we need solid play in the secondary with players who can tackle
-
we aren't making plays....we get a couple sacks here and there but not enough.....our defense isn't forcing turnovers and isn't consistent....on offense we can control the clock all day but if we don't finish we will not win.....

easiest schedule to toughest shedule?
be happy we should be 2-1...It shows we have some pieces in place. I didn't want Henne getting his shot this early but who knows, it could be a great thing. -
Running successfully and stopping the run are important, but are useless without the at least some ability to pass successfully and stop the pass.
Being good at one and bad at the other is always a recipe for failure. Complete teams win games. We're not a complete team. Our scheme is terrible, our WR are average, and our QB's all have some major deficiency. The offensive passing game has regressed big time.
Not surprised by our Pass D though. Will Allen is serviceable, our rookies are rookies (they show promise though), we have 2 S who lack coverage ability, and our LB can't cover to save their lives. -
We are stuck with this turd until he decides to catch the ball or he is traded for a pack of cigarettes. -
The secondary is letting this team down big time. Not to mention the lack of playmakers on the offense hurts. Does anyone really think Fasano is a starting TE in this league?
It pays to have a Receiving TE and we don't have one. -
I do like our offensive philosophy at the BEGINNING of the game where we give it to Ronnie early and often. But it gets to a certain point where we should use our successful running to our advantage in the passing game, aka playaction. We run the ball at strange times it seems like. Also, we should have had way more faith in Henne when he came in the game. The play calling was horrible when he went in. All we were doing were screens and draws. Let Henne throw down the field.

we need a complete D and maybe a # 1 WR and move Ginn over.....teams have gotten by with beastly Defenses and average Offenses that have their moments......I think with a all around top defense our team would be beastly.......
