I hate that deal for you. I think Peterson's the best player in fantasy football, and I wouldn't think about trading him for an injury-prone running back and a modest upgrade at WR. The swap of defenses is essentially irrelevant.

If it is then I hate this deal less than what others have said.

The only knock against SJ is his health, which is definitely a legit concern. But then again, Peterson has already had 1 major injury in his short career.

Peterson catches 0 passes, SJ catches a ****load. So points-wise, it isn't a bad move there.

I also think Jennings is a really big upgrade over Ward.

No way is that a modest upgrade at WR. Jennings is head and shoulders above Ward right now and with Holmes finally "clicking" with Roethlisberger... doesn't help Ward's case.

It all depends on whether it's a PPR league... or if you believe the 370 curse.

It's not a bad trade, but it depends on those two things I mentioned before.

 

I do believe in the 370 curse, to a point. However, I believe Peterson is young enough that it won't be an issue. Meanwhile, I KNOW Jackson has injury problems. He can't seem to stay healthy; he's missed 8 games in the last 2 years, and has played exactly 1 16 game season. Of course Jennings is a better WR. I like him a lot, but it's nowhere near enough value to give up Peterson for Jackson. Even in a PPR, I think it's a bad deal.

 

Having seen your roster, I am now more convinced than ever that you should back out of this trade. Your RB corps has more question marks than the Riddler's costume, yet you already have 4 quality WRs. Throw in the fact that it's not a PPR, and this trade makes absolutely no sense for you on any level whatsoever.

Without PPR, Peterson is definitely superior. Jennings wouldn't even matter that much since your WRs don't look bad at all to begin with.

Just curious, but either way I'd run like hell from that trade if I was you.

trading a top RB for a top WR isnt smart IMO. its easy to replace a WR with a rookie who is getting wicked touches (Eddie Royal, Marques Colston, Anquan Boldin). Jackson will disappoint you, and you will be sorry.

traded reggie wayne for chicago defense, then picked up eddie royal and he outproduced reggie wayne. that trade got me to the championship.

One example does not mean it's similar for every WR and every league.

 

i gave 3 examples in my first post. every year there is a WR who gets tons of catches that no one drafted in their fantasy league. If you pay attention and watch as many games as you can during week 1 and 2, you can easily spot these guys and pick them up before the rest of the world figures it out. I knew Eddie Royal was gonna be a beast after two plays last year.

It's much more difficult to find a hidden gem at RB because most backup running backs and rookies are taken in the draft. Usually only proven WRs and a few rookies will be drafted. There is ALWAYS a WR stud to be found on the waiver wire during week 1. Jerrico Cothcery from a few years ago was a good example. Anquan Boldin before that. Marques Colston. Eddie Royal.... It happens a lot.

 

There are always FA WRs to be picked up.

But there are very, very few who can compare with TOP WRs.

In PPR, top WRs are very close in value to top RBs.

 

Royal was top 8 in my PPR league last year. I had Andre Johnson, Wes Welker, and Royal. All top 8. Only drafted one of them.

 

That's a rarity.

I guess it depends on how smart the people in your league are.

 

That's great waiver wire management, and if you're both good and lucky, you can usually snipe quality WRs off the wire. But I don't know that I'd count on that every year. And honestly, if Wayne for the Bears worked out for you, it was only to the extent that it cleared you to get Royal. 95% of the time, trading a top WR for a defense is going to fail.
