GO NFC!! Falcons! Packers don't have a run game with their injuries, don't want to see them to move on. Falcons are the best chance I think to beat the AFC.
Tramon Williams has played really well this year. That goes for the entire defense though. Capers defense is very complex, which is what makes it more impressive IMO.
Capers = Fired by Dolphins Cameron = Fired by Dolphins Tomlinson = Not hired by Dolphins Matt Ryan = Passed on in draft by Dolphins Wow Rodgers escapes. What amazing feet he has. Rex Ryan would approve.
Another big hole to sit in. Falcons D. getting carved in the middle. Corner of the end zone that time.
The Falcons D has always been suspect IMO. They're a true bend but don't break team. Usually very good in red zone. James Jones made a helluva catch. His inconsistency drives me crazy though. For a guy who had such fantastic hands coming out, he has really been up and down.
Harry Douglas is a really nice slot. He's coming back from that torn ACL and hasn't fully recovered. He'll be very good again next year IMO.
Stared him down all the way. That was ugly. How Tramon Williams didn't make the Pro Bowl is beyond me.
Wow what a mistake. So far today you can see the young QBs making mistakes and the vet QBs showing how its done
There was that three deep safeties look from Dom Capers again. He ran this last week against Philadelphia on the final play in which led to a pick. Against Philadelphia, he had the cornerbacks stick with the #1 while the #2 is covered by a slot cornerback. If there's a flat threat, the slot cornerback releases the #2 into the safeties and buzzes the flat. If there's no flat threat, you carry #2 all the way through. The outside linebackers play the Hook/Curl on the hashes while the middle linebacker, who was Clay Matthews against Philly, did what Capers calls a "squirm", which is just play close to the line and spying. In the mean time, they will call a Ralph/Larry call to the passing strength side. The Ralph/Larry (Right/Left passing strength) call makes one of the safeties fill the seam to be the Hook player by coming down into the middle at the snap. Ralph is for passing strength to the right and Larry is passing strength to the left. The safety to that side fills the middle. I didn't get a chance to see what he did here but last week, the above is what Dom did and it worked out well.
Don't count them out yet. The Falcons can play from behind IMO and their defense will give up a ton of yards but its usually pretty solid in the red zone IIRC. EDIT: Top five in points allowed per game, per Yahoo! statistics.
Using my dolphins assumptions. We never come back from that. lol. Forgot this is a real team we are watching.
Actually, that leads me to wonder.. what's the biggest lead we blew this year? What was the biggest deficit we surmounted?
Rodgers runs in for a touchdown. Now Atlanta has to do work lol. That's disappointing for the defense.
Wow. Atlanta needs a BIG play to score. THeir DEFENSE will lose them this game unless the offense fires their defense up again.
D has to be tired by now. Also, isn;t one of the Falcons starting CB's out? If so, it sure shows. Also, their LBs are undersized IMO, to deal with this Green bay front.
When a smaller front seven faces a more powerful Oline, I feel like the only way to dominate as a defense is if you have a great defensive co-ordinator calling stunts, fire zone and orther expotic blitzes to out-match the Lines size with speed, movement and angles... oh, and confusion. TCU did a great job of this against Wisconsin. The Falcons D-Co-ord is not doing it well enough.... relying on the front four, but with Rogers escapability... man. Rogers FEET are winning this game. Seriously.
this would still be a game if Atlanta was able to make its sacks. i've counted at least three sure sacks that Rodgers was able to elude and then make a big play on. If Atlanta makes those those drives stall. Its great when you can have a QB who can be that elusive in the pocket while still maintaining his ability to throw down the field instead of running
Yeah, its difficult when overmatched physically. However, you can counter it, depending on the protection scheme of the position. For example, the Falcons are a IZB/OZB team. You can help neutralize that by two gapping with head-up players. It's more difficult to take an angle on a head up defensive player than a shaded one. If you're facing a man blocking team, as you said stunts, twists and zone blitzes can work because you're putting your speed advantage against them.
Atlanta's really laid an egg. Amazing how much of a difference of play a team can have quarter to quarter.
Biggest blown lead was Detroit game. We were up 10 pts, and ended up losing by 7. Our biggest lead in most of the other losses was 3 or less. Biggest deficit surmounted (I assume you mean in a win) was the Cincy game. Cincy had an 8 pt lead in the 2nd QTR and we ended up winning by 8. Most other wins where we trailed, it was usually 4 points or less.
