Not sure if "college offense" is a backhanded compliment.

I took it as an insult. The only college style thing we do is the read option which we don't even do much, or at least not as much as we should because it always seems to work. Maybe that's why it works, if you do things too much like the wild cat, teams wise up to it and shut it down eventually.

Could be 'matter of fact' or backhanded.

IF it was backhanded, there must be a reason for it. Maybe his D is not a good fit against Miami's O and he's reeling to find ways to defend it?

Big IF, but IF so, could mean well for Miami.....

It is a matter of fact.

But what struck me was how similar the Chargers passing offense was to ours in last game. They ran spread a lot when passing. So he had seen a lot of those looks.
On running downs, unlike us, Chargers tighten up close to hashes. So that part will be different.
Against us, Ravens will get spread looks essentially on every down, so that's what he meant, imo.

They aren't going to insult our entire offense the week of the game, it was a harmless comment that I suppose could be taken out of context....but certainly not malicious.

I didn't take it as an insult. The Seahawks run a "college" offense. So do the 49ers.

Reading the comments at the bottom of the link, their fans are as nervous about the game as we are. Especially since their defense has given up 965 total yards of offense and 61 points the past 2 weeks to the Saints and Chargers.

By comparison, we've given up 604 and 52 points the past two weeks.

Hoping to get more downfield production out of the TEs. Sims was huge for us against the jets.

Four targets and 4 receptions for 58 yards doesn't sound like much, but he was huge.

It was. We were in long passing situations most of the night. The 20 yard completions to Sims were major throws on both FG drives. I thought some of the best passes of the game.

    Going into the jets game:
Clay 39/58 for 346 yards and 2 TDs
Sims 13/21 for 158 yards and 1 TD
Hoskins is 2/3 for 21 yards

Total TE Production: 52 catches for 505 yards and 3 TDs.

Sims added 4 catches for 58 yards and set up the scoring drives. Hoping for more. This unit has under performed all season.

He also blocks better then Clay. If he can give us this kind of production week in/week out...I'd say forget Clay and his wonky knees.

Don't watch a lot of college, but an offense that rarely passes more than ten or twenty yards, and goes with all high percentage short throws and sprinkles in read option certainly sounds collegiate.

Does that mean if we start to take 4 deep shots per game and hit 1 or 2 each game we'll be considered pro?

Nah. We are like Okie State, WVU, Texas AM, Texas Tech. It's a lot of fun for me to watch the Phins, finally. One real benefit is we should be able to get QBs from college who have played in a similar or essentially same system, as well as other positions, and contribute from the start.

I would love if we came out, 4 wide all game, and spread offense passed the ball the entire time. Throws over 15-20 yards at a time, deep routes.....completely ****ing destroy their game plan.

The Ravens fans dont seem too confident they can beat Miami because their secondary sucks and they think Tanny will pick them apart.

Another comment that caused me to chuckle

We are getting some respect for a change

I took it as a sort of backhanded compliment but it probably wasn't mean that way.

We do run a lot from the shotgun and do a lot of spread formations with movement. I wouldn't say we are a college offense though.

Wow, some of those guys are worse than some of you which is really bizarre to think about.

They have some guys hoping to lose out so they get a better draft pick. I haven't seen any of that on here.

I think we should come out in our 2 minute offense and use those formations on them the whole night...it would put Baltimore on their heels right from the start and we hold them to 3 and outs they will get winded quite rapidly.....just stomp their butts from the start and continue through to the finish ! ! ! !

I like the idea of having them both on the field healthy. We need some big guys out there.

College offense or not, the performance of the O-line is key. 2 or 3 promising drives were killed against the Jets because of sacks or plays blown up behind the line.

It is a Tebow-ish Read Option offence. The difference is that RT can make those medium range throws at an impressive success rate. As long as he has the time to make a read or two the offence will be fine.

I'm not a huge tannehill fan (more of wait and see guy) but those were some really nice passes. He had 4-5 in the game that were nice.

He has some in every game that are nice or have a "wow" factor to them. We just lack better receiving targets. Was nice that Sims caught all 4 of his targets. The 20 yard pass on 3rd and 5 was outstanding.

Separately, Landry most likely sets the Dolphins rookie record for catches and TDs by season's end.

While the comment came off as dismissive, he actually was more complimentary in his film breakdown where we went thru the games against GB, Det, Den, and NYJ showing what we're doing out of the option and how well suited it is for Tannehill's skillset.
