Working out in South Florida since early in the yr, his knees are healthy and it is yr #2 after acl surgery ' I'd say that depends on his health, if R or R are not retained Smith is a low cost alternative to either one and running backs such as D Williams who may not hit FA this offseason. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=56551&draftyear=2008&genpos=RB Surprising how close his measurables are to D Thomas, 6'1/1.56 10 yd split/4.53 40. Acorn or Draft Bust? I'd suspect he'd play for a league minimum type of deal and he will play hurt.
Certainly closer to bust at this point. Given what our) situation looks like right now, I'd certainly be interested to see what he has in the tank. I'm pretty sure the "come get me" thing is more than a few months old.
Same here, to me since we passed on an additional running back in the draft he make sense to push D Thomas and K Sheets. And I'm not sure he is a bust: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8841 Good Rook season, slipped in yr #2, was relegated in yr #3 with Best on the roster and the injuries, to me that is what makes him an acorn.] At the time it was thought he would be given a 3rd round RFA tender, which is why he said that, he was in effect released instead, working out in the SFla area one would have to think he has been scouted by the Dolphins at those workouts..while they ate their Cuban Sandwiches for lunch...
Hmm, could be need meeting opportunity for K Smith, but he has a very small window to show what he can do if he is signed.
depending on the contract why not, he has talent. We need backs. I would like Ronnie or Ricky back but not both, but if neither are back, is the a better, cheaper option?
(it appears as if Omar was being a big douche here) Aside from that...he's had two knee surgeries, one shoulder surgery and one thumb surgery since 2008....He is talented, but do we want to be handcuffed to that kind of an injury history? We might as wel resign ronnie, at least we know what we are getting with him.
We definitely need to give Kevin Smith a look, imo. Detroit has been a disaster since he got there. He should be fully recovered from his injury this year too.
Well, he is 5 yrs younger than Ronnie Brown and far cheaper and I suspect that will be big with Ireland. He and J Best were a backfield combo that was never going to work, to similar of players with Best being far more explosive, Smith had to be more durable and he just wasn't..in Detroit, worth a look as a camp body at least imho.
Sign him. Injuries are going to happen to an RB playing behind Detroit's OL. Fantastic vision for an RB, and should be fully recovered from his ACL surgery now.
i think there's a good chance he can still play well and really contribute, but i do not want to give up a draft pick for the guy.
Sweet. Let's sign an even more average RB than the one we drafted. O and he's injury-prone too? What a steal. Seriously, he's about the opposite of what we should be looking to pair DT with.
http://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...the-free-agents-running-backs-and-full-backs/ PFF ranks him as the #8 FA running back.
