padre31luxury_boxOPThe Lions failed to extend a tender to potential restricted free agent RB Kevin Smith.
The news comes as a surprise after a report just a week ago that the Lions still "really like" Smith. "I've been hurt the last two years so to me it was more of a business decision," Smith said in response. "They did what they had to and I'll do what I have to do." Unlike the majority of players getting the tender, Smith would not have hit the open market as a three-year vet. That changes now, as Smith is free to sign with another team once a CBA is finalized.
More or less, he was waived, if healthy he is a good running back and with no Ronnie B or Ricky Williams Miami should be an attractive destination for the fmr S Florida running back.
