That is the list of majority of Qb's available as Free Agents.
It is bleak, really bleak.
A backup, this late in the season, ideally has starting experience in the NFL, most of those players listed have little to none:
Ramsey: 24 starts in his career
Jemarcus Russel: 25 starts in his career
If the UFL season were over:
Josh McCown:31 starts
Daunte Culpepper:101 starts
Tim Rattay: 18 starts
Jeff Garcia: 112 starts
Of the five Qb's they looked at:
Ramsey, Russell, Grady, Brandstater, St Clair, Ramsey had the second most starts, and more than likely had the most knowledge of NFL passing offenses even though Russell has more starting experience, this is a sad fact of life in midseason Qb signings you normally want a guy with upside as a backup Qb but with 2 Qb's down Ireland no longer has that luxury.

The CT team's season just ended so McCown will be on the market, and the Title game is in late November so in December all 4 Qb's will be on the market, so two games and we can bid on them. -

As for going 5-1, Bro, all you can do is play the games with the best guys you can field, if that means fishing the UFL or making do with Ramsey, that is what has to happen.
That is why Ramsey is here, he was the best of a very mediocre bunch of Qb's on the market, the UFL has mopped up the guys who normally would get a look, once that season is over there will be more talent on the market. -
I wanted to see them bring in that 6'5" arena league player they took a look see at over the summer...What's his name?
-
And good luck finding UFL stats, that site is not conducive to easily finding who is the leading passer or receiver in that league.Pandarilla likes this. -
Well, at least if Brandstater had to come in, no one would have any real game film on him to prepare...... so that's a positive right?

I still have a Pat White jersey, so that could be a beneficial option too. :shifty:

Tyler Thigpen is going to give Sparano ulcers...break pocket, run towards line of scrimmage, ball fake, ball fake, throw 35 yds downfield to Beast who is double covered.
Sparano considers that tossing a bottle of whiskey and the keys to the mini van to a teenager type of offense..:chuckle:
I do not think the search for backup Qb's is over tbh with you TP, McCown may wind up in Miami now that the UFL season is over.
Though Culpepper is intriguing, tall pocket passing Qb with a good arm, that sounds like their cup o' tea.ToddsPhins likes this. -
Must be a huge success!
As for who we may bring in.
Don't want any part of Culpepper.
If you want vet leadership Garcia would be the best of the bunch.
McCown second.
Neither exciting. -
I was waiting for this!
I know you're kidding though so I'm still waiting with great anxiousness for the first serious post. Either that or a call for Marcus Vick. :lol:ToddsPhins and padre31 like this. -

But really there are no good scenarios when talking being down to a 4th QB is there?
It's not like were choosing Pat Ramsey to be our QB, were talking plan Z here.
Ramsey will be a disaster.
Who else is there though?
I only see Garcia and McCown as upgrades to him and they aren't exactly players that inspire thoughts of playoff runs.
Garcia's experience would be the best option for us IMO in this scenario.
The best scenario is for Henne to be able to come back so we've got 2 options that are prepared and ready.padre31 likes this. -

Experience
Leadership
Championships
Warner could very well indeed elevate the level of our team's game.
But alas....wishful thinking. -
So he would make sense, tons of experience and interconnectedness with the Dolphins, but I like Culpepper a bit more as he just has better tools, but either one is an upgrade over Ramsey.
Tim Rattay, who I liked in SF, is also a decent option.
Agreed on Chad Henne, of all the options even coming back not fully healthy is still a better option. -
personally, I think in 11 days you will see
Starter- Henne
Backup- Thigpen
3rd string- Ramsey -
Well, the UFL is screwing the pooch:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...nforce-150000-transfer-fee-after-season-ends/
Basically the NFLers who signed in the UFL to rehab or to maybe fill some holes on teams after their season ends around thanksgiving, just got a kick in the crotch with the UFL deciding that their contracts now run through February, which means if a player has a shot at latching onto a NFL team that team has to pay the UFL 150k for the privilege.
Which means very very few UFLers, unless a team is in Extremis, will be signed by the NFL as there will be only 7 games less, maybe 6, so the fee will be as much as a Vet minimum prorated salary, the NFL club would have to pay twice the amount they would pay a street FA. -
Ummmm, I actually do have a Pat White jersey........ although the name plate is mysteriously missing. :shifty: I bought it just b/c I liked him in college and there was no Henne, Vontae, or Wake jersey at the time. I'm hoping we draft a burner at WR who takes #6 so I can wear it with a little more pride!!padre31 likes this.
