super fly soundtrack is a great place to start. I would also recommend marvin gaye. Very underrated soul singer IMO.

george clinton and the p funk all stars..even has funk in their name. i haven't heard alot of their stuff but ive seen them play and they were pretty funky for sure. also check the soulmen(bernie mac/sam.l.jackson) ost as it had some funky stuff on it including isaac hayes.
