I think it's obvious now that Javier Lopez shouldn't be on this team. He was bad last year, bad in the playoffs, bad in the spring etc. He's a lefty who just can't get lefties out. I'd rather keep Bryan Corey once Timlin comes off the DL.

Again? Today was a big win for you guys but yesterday was only a 3 run victory, Beckett will be pitching tomorrow so hopefully he will put an end to the small losing streak.

Today's game was pathetic. The Sox looked very tired/lazy. Buchholz pitched ok, not great but not terrible. He had trouble throwing his curveball for strikes which hurt him, but he had his change up working pretty well today.

Hopefully the Sox can win tomorrow and get the hell out of Canada, as it never treats them well.

No problem man, stop in anytime to chat or talk smack.

The Jays easily could be 5-0 right now. I've seen every game they've played so far. If Burnett and Halladay can stay healthy they'll be a scary team. I'm really not a fan of the Jays line up, too many righties in the line up and besides Wells, Rios and Thomas none of the other guys scare me (athough Overbay and Hill are pretty good hitters and Zaun always seems to kill the Sox).

It's a long season but it should be fun at the very least.

yes... but we're sending Roy Halladay out tomorrow too. so it should be quite the pitchers battle tomorrow. I wish i was goign to be home to watch it, but my ball team has a practice tomorrow, so i'm gonna miss it. hopefully its a good game though. two of the best picthers in baseball IMO going up against one another.

I must say im pretty impressed with the jays so far this year, i never thought theyd hang in there this well against the yanks, and now boston too. Sure its early, but if this competitive team is a sign of things to come all year and if they can stay healthy, the jays might be able to make a run for at least a wildcard.

So last time Delcarmen faced Thomas, Frank launched a change-up into the seats. You know Thomas was looking 1st pitch fastball, I was not surprised when they said he crushed the 95mph offering.

I'm worried that the Tigers are coming into Fenway being 0 and 6. This really could be a long April for the Sox. They need to stop this losing streak and win the next 4 out of 6 while at home. The team needs to start hitting and it's time Francona stops playing Coco. He obviously has no real trade value even if he catches fire so just put him on the bench and hope for the best.

I think the Tigers is exactly what the Red Sox need with their poor pitching and being at home we should see better offensive numbers. Of course my opinion changes if Leyland decides to curse his team out during a televised interview.

    Breaking news:

Mike Lowell is on the DL with a bad thumb. Sox called up top minor league position prospect Jed Lowrie. He's a switch hitter with good gap to gap power and his main position is SS but the Sox are going to work him a little at 3rd to see how he does and maybe have him start a game or 2 at SS or 2nd.

If you want more info on Lowrie visit: www.soxprospects.com which is a GREAT site for minor leaguers in the Sox organization.

It will be interesting to see how Lowrie does. A lot of scouts have said if Lowrie comes up and does well they wouldn't be shocked to see the Sox trade Lugo in the offseason and give Lowrie the job (ala Pedroia). I'm excited to see Lowrie play but I'm not expecting much. I'm actually bummed out Lowell is on the DL especially with the Yanks coming to town.

Definitely hurts and Cora hurt his elbow during pre-game warmups. I hope this injury bug stops spreading throughout the clubhouse.

OT What is going with Ortiz so far this season he is 3/33 and isn't showing any signs of improving? If his knee is still bothering him that could be trouble for the Sox this season.

I'm not worried about Ortiz, it's not like he's not making contact with the ball or is looking over matched. He's getting some good wood on the ball but it's just right at people. He'll snap out of it.

I don't remember him being in a slump like this during his tenure with the Red Sox which is my main concern right now. On another note Tavarez was terrible tonight

I like how Buchholz pitched tonight minus the 4th inning. He pitched pretty well and I'll admit I would have signed up for 6 innings 4 runs from him vs. the Yankees.

Tough loss tonight. Wang was a strike machine but the Sox were right on him they just hit them all at people. But thats the way baseball is sometimes, next time it might be a different outcome.

The offense needs to wake up and I'm starting to wonder about Ortiz's knee now.

This team needs some serious bullpen help, Aardsman came in and did a good job but Timlin is downright awful and needs to be put on the DL or designated for assignment. The only two guys I have no worries about is Okajima and Papelbon.

Lopez just got Damon to roll into a huge DP but he is also very unreliable. If Crisp gets traded it will have to be for a reliever.

I just had a bad feeling when Timlin came in last night and he did nothing to appease that giving up a homer to Giambi right off the bat (no pun intended) then after continued to struggle until he was finally pulled for Lopez who came in and looked brilliant. Also, what about the base running from Coco, stole second and then third until he was knocked in by Ellsbury. I agree 100% with you Brown42000, if Coco does in fact get traded it needs to be for a solid reliever.

Last night's game was brutual. Over 4 hours. But hey at least we won.

Yeah I agree the pen is a problem. I'd like to say I'm not worried about Timlin since he was a big part of the Sox in October but he has me a little worried. If it helps Timlin sucked last year after he got off the DL and straightened it out so who knows.

The key to the Sox pen is Delcarmen. If he can pitch to his potential the Sox can almost cut the game down to a 6 inning game. He's the key, I liked how he pitched last night going right after hitters.

Aardsma is an interesting case, he has a great arm but can he keep up the control?

I absolutely hate Lopez but last night was his best game with the Sox, he was outstanding.

Off to Cleveland for 2 and then to NY for 2. I'll sign up for 3-1 right now (obviously). Let's go Sox.

Nice comeback win tonight. Tavarez saved the game tonight pitching great in the middle innings.

Papelbon was unhittable tonight, the guy is just scary good.

I also really like how the Sox played a little small ball to get the first run in the 9th, with a lead off double by Lugo, bunt by Coco (which he was safe on) and then the sac fly by Pedroia. Ortiz got 2 hits so hopefully there will be a new story for the media to talk about tomorrow.

Big Papi is the only reason I even watch the Sox. No offense, I'm a cubbies man. Manny is solid as well. I love the way he hits the ball. His swing is so fluid.
