The Reds have agreed to trade Ken Griffey Jr. to the White Sox, pending his approval, SI.com has confirmed. As a 10-and-5 five player, Griffey has the right to reject the deal. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/baseball/mlb/07/31/griffey.whitesox/index.html
Not really, the Reds need to move him because he was not a part of their future. He can help a team now, but basically he is done as a real force in the game. I doubt he can ever hit more than 30 HRs in a season after this year.
yes i know....the "right field" reference is the position griffey plays now....just poking fun...sheesh marlins fans
Ken Griffey Jr. has never played in a World Series. Now he might get his chance. Griffey has approved a trade to the White Sox, according to a source with knowledge of the deal. The trade is now pending the approval of the commissioner, an indication that it involves a cash transaction of more than $1 million.
Why? Its not like this is 1998 Griffey. I doubt he's the difference in whether the Pale Sox make the playoffs or not. Plus who knows if he will say yes to the trade.
Not as big as you think. He is hitting .245 and only 15 HR's this year. This is more of a salary dump than anything else. Jr is not the force he once was.
Excatly, this is not the trade it would have been 10 years ago. Its barely a blip on the scene today.
Dont really get this trade for the White Sox. They have Swisher/Dye/Quentin in the outfield, Swisher can move to first but then what do you with Konerko? Thome can only really DH, so you cant even really rotate people through that spot. Seems odd to me.
Well he is about to start his DH part of career soon...not now but in a few years...i see him finishing up in the AL
