Relative perfection?

I was just watching the Americas game series show on the 72 Dolphins perfect season and noticed a familiar name on the sidelines. #32 Ginn.

Curiosity set in so now I have got to know. Any relation to the current Ginn?, It's not his daddy, this Ginn's first name is Hubert, not Ted.

So, you guys are all the smartest kids in the class, what can we discover?

Career: Ginn was the fourth leading rusher on the Dolphins 1972 team, rushing 27 times for 142 yards and scored one touchdown. In his six-year career with the Dolphins, Ginn played in 63 games, carrying the ball 101 times for 415 yards (4.1 avg.) and three touchdowns. He caught six passes for 47 yards (7.8 avg.), returned 40 kickoffs for 865 yards (21.6 avg.), and recovered five fumbles. He had three different stints with the Dolphins starting as a ninth round draft pick in 1970, and then was re-signed two different times as a free agent, on September 25, 1974, and again on October 8, 1975.

Interesting. I see he played for Oakland in the 1976 Superbowl vs Min. He ran 2 times for 9 yards.

Unusual that he played for Miami from 70-73, Baltimaore in 73, and then Miami again in 74 and 75.

Although here it doesn't show him playing in 74-75:

During the 1973 season, Ginn was traded to the Baltimore Colts - a deal he requested. He was, after all, the backup to three guys who weren't too shabby: Larry Csonka (1,117 yards), Mercury Morris (1,000 yards) and Jim Kiick (521 yards).

"The reason I wanted to be traded is because I wanted more playing time," Ginn said. "I had already won this (Super Bowl VII ring). You know, at running back you only have but so many years. I wanted to make a name and go and break some records on my own.

"It didn't happen, but I was blessed. I don't regret it. I got another Super Bowl ring, Super Bowl XI. Hey, ain't nobody else in the world got that Super Bowl VII and Super Bowl XI ring."

After playing in six games for Baltimore, Ginn re-signed as a free agent with Miami in 1974 and again in 1975. He played his final three seasons with Oakland, retiring at age 31 in 1978.

Forever a Dolphin

Ginn's daughter has two sons, Ethan, 5, and Josh, 4.

"This one's Josh's," Ginn said, lifting his hands, one at a time, to display rings from Super Bowls VII and XI. "This one's Ethan's. They were born on the 7th and the 11th of April, so it was meant for them. When I'm gone, I want them to have them."

Ginn said winning a Super Bowl with the '72 Dolphins was more special than winning one with the '76 Raiders because Miami finished with a perfect record that still stands.

"It's a feeling that only 47 players got to feel," he said. "Somebody asked me once if I'd rather have won the Super Bowl or be in the (Pro Football) Hall of Fame. I would rather win the Super Bowl. To me, that's the top. I'm a Dolphin. That's my favorite team. That's the team that drafted me."

I'm sure if he was in any way related to Teddy, it would have made the media by now, so I highly doubt that there is a connection. I do remember his name on the roster but he was never a real threat to become an elite back.
