And the Jets cut Pennington without even garnering a 7th round pick for him.

Bad memories, John Beck battling it out with McCown..oh...joy...

Funny you should bring this up, somewhere during the day we were talking about our qb's and I had trouble remembering his name... that's darned pretty bad.. or part-timers. Without Pennington, we are a 4+- win team imo. Josh just wasn't consistant enough and would not have had nearly as good an influence on our early growth, veteran or not. Poor Josh.

I think Henne was going to win the QB battle before Pennington came.

Agreed. McClown (I forgot he was even on the team too :pointlol:) was definitely not the answer and Beck wasn't chosen by the new regime, it probably would have been Henne's job to lose.

I'll never forget the day we signed Pennington. I was at a bar with a Dolphin fan deep deep in Patsies land watching baseball highlights. Then I see the ESPN Ticker: "Dolphins sign QB Chad Pennington". I jumped up with a fist pump and a HELL YA. They were all giving me "Did you just win the lottery look?" No, not the lottery but it sure as hell is NICE to go through ONE season, just one friggin season, when we're not involved in yet another QB controversy at Week 8 and out of the playoffs.

I'm looking forward to Chad VS Chad in the offseason. We're gonna have a QB battle to end all QB battles next July and August. The coaches are head over heels about BOTH of them, so it will be a very good race. But it will be Penny's job to lose of course. But really watch for Henne to look a lot like Ben Roethlisberger come June or July.

That should be fun, but the guy I'm looking forward to seeing and reading about is John Beck, he may not stick or last this offseason, but if he does, I think he will be massively improved.

Last season Beck was supposed to sit and learn, now he has had a chance to do that, and I want to see if he has worked as hard as he was capable.

This kind of makes up for the FO taking Culpepper over Drew Brees. I try to forget about this too.

You can bet that this season would have been much different had Pennington not come available.

John Beck??? I cringe every time I read or hear that name :tongue2:

Hopefully Beck learned lesson number 1 as a NFL QB.. Do not fumble every third snap

Maybe we can use Beck in the Wildcat as a decoy next year, especially if teams decide to start smacking Pennington around at the LOS

    Be tough trooper....:tongue2:

Beck is still a prospect Bumrush, he was raw coming out of BYU, much more unpolished then we or anyone could have known, that spread offense with the vast majority of the snaps coming in the shotgun is death for a NFL Qb...Beck has to relearn Qb basics, but he has the talent and now we have invested a year worth of time in his training.

We should see some dividends off of that in preseason and TC of 2009.
